He's either k"ing or slugging.

In a perfect world, I'd go with Bourjos leading off and wing in the 2 hole, Holliday 3rd, peralta, carpenter, heyward, 1b, yadi, but then yadi in front of the p isn't great.

**** I dunno what I'd do

WTF? Bourjas? What am I missing here? Grichuk is one of the few players on this team that can hit the ball in the gaps and over the fence. He's hitting .280 which in 2015 s not that bad.

He just has such horrible at bats at times it skew's the perception. Bourjas is a better defender but there is not that much separation between Grichuk and Bourjas defensively to justify his offense over Grichucks.

Again, I'm not saying Grichuk is an All-Star but he is a better option this year, right now, than Bourjas and most defintely Jay.

I just don't think his performance is sustainable over the course of an entire season, and run prevention is every bit as important as run scoring. It's hard for guys who strike out 30% of the time and walk less than 5% to be useful offensive pieces. Regarding Bourjos: We almost lost the game on Friday because of Jay's inability to read a ball off of a bat that is a routine play for almost any CF, and Bourjos is one of the best defensive CFs in baseball.

Grichuk reminds me of Josh Hamilton (a homeless man's version) in that he will go through periods where he hits the cover off of the ball, but he will get himself out if you just throw him trash because he's not a patient hitter.

Grichuk needs to play left til Holliday gets back though. Bourjos needs to play center everyday

Thats an argument for Bourjas over Jay. I'm on board with that option. Add in Grichuk over Jay also.

I've seen Grichuk make some fantastic plays in the OF. You are making him sound like Duncan out there.

I'm not saying he is a solution at any position. Just that when you take the overall game and potential upside, Grichuk is the better current option over Jay and Bourjas when Holliday returns.

It's really a moot point. As long as Jay can hit .225, he will be starting. Matheny will ride him all the way thinking he will start hitting .300 again. We saw it with Craig and Freese. Why would Jay be different?

They didn't mention it on the TV broadcast, but from reading Twitter it appears there's a potentially large tornado near St. Charles moving into the city. That's probably why they threw the tarp over the field even though it's barely raining.

One of my friends live in St. Charles, she was sending pictures of some crazy looking clouds.

And of course Jay blows a play in the 2nd inning that Bourjas or Grichuk could have made the play easily.
