Acquiring a very good LT isn't rocket science, but it still requires planning and security. And when you have somebody at that position who's still 25, top 15ish in the league, and still growing and improving, you KEEP that mother****er. Because finding a replacement is still a massive headache.

He was the worst LT in the league, the only thing you can do from there is get better.

Fisher is average at best, but when we wanted to let a very good guy go in Albert, people railroaded him out of town, this guy plays half the level at Albert, and lets resign him to a nice big fat contract.

Im not saying he might not deserve to be re-signed, but he was already under contract, and we could have just seen what happens this year.

Dunno, I dont get it.

Fisher was above average last year when moved back to LT.

The deal isn't cheap right now but by the time its a few years old and more LT get signed it will be.

So we should have waited when he would have cost more or have to tag him if he has a break out season? The coaches and our GM see him all the time and they know better than us. He is a smart professional top to bottom and he can play better than average. No reason not to lock him up.

This is a bad deal if Fisher never gets better.

If he reaches his ceiling it's a hell of a deal.

There were some very valid reason for Fisher's early struggles.

drafted 1.1 something he didn't really deserve which added crazy pressure

switched position to RT

made him play with shoulder injury(also sport hernia at some point iirc) his 1st season instead of having surgery.

Because of injury he missed most of his 1st training camp

Because of delayed surgery he missed all of his 2nd training camp

moved him back to LT

Then moved him back to RT because Stephenson was pouting and sucked less at LT

Then moved him back to LT

All this happens while a small school player is dealing with crazy pressure of 1.1 and vicious fans who hated taking an OT instead of a QB.

Fisher has dealt with a lot and has weathered it all to become an above average OT with chance to become pro bowl level.

Yep, fans still whining and pouting because he's not a QB.

Very glad that KC did this. Has Fisher played well enough to deserve this contract? Not really. Not so far. He's definitely getting better, and sometimes, a GM just has to take the gamble that much more improvement is on the way.

Having two good OTs and a C locked up will be a big part of keeping the Chiefs in strong playoff contention year after year. They should have enough at OG to finally get this collective OL group into the upper half of the League.

Unless injuries plague them, or we end up with another McGlynn disaster.. this offense will get more dangerous on all levels of the field.

Chiefs extend OT Eric Fisher (4 years, $48M; $40M guaranteed): MILLEN grade
Uhh... what the hell is this? Seriously, is this some kind of joke? Are the Chiefs trolling everyone? Or did their accountants tack on an extra zero to this contract by accident? Because Eric Fisher deserves $4 million guaranteed on his new deal; not $40 million.

I can't even begin to explain this. Fisher has been a mega bust since being the first-overall selection in the 2013 NFL Draft. Fisher was awful for two seasons and improved last year enough to be sub par at best. Without seeing the numbers and hearing that the Chiefs extended him for four years, I would've guessed that he received $10 million overall with $4 million in guarantees. And that may have been too much.

This reeks of the Chiefs failing to admit that they made a mistake. It's one thing to make an error. We're all human, after all, and no one's perfect. It gets bad, however, when people start compounding mistakes by failing to concede being wrong in the first place. That's exactly what the Chiefs are doing here, and they're getting slapped with a dreaded Millen grade as a result.
