By all accounts, he hated the recruiting aspect of things. At Notre Dame, he had 4 and 5 star kids to pick from. If he didn't like recruiting to Notre Dame, he's going to hate trying to get 1 and 2 star kids at Kansas.

Yeah I don't see this working at all. I'm not convinced he's a good coach anyway. I guess KU football will get some attention out of it for a while.

"First, Weis will work harder than any other coach you'd hire. I'm certain of that. He's there at 5 AM. He doesn't leave until sometimes 1 AM. That's how he is. He did this the entire time while at ND. Second, I don't know where this notion that Weis doesn't like to recruit came from. He works his ass off in recruiting. I've covered a lot of coaches in my time. Nobody worked harder than Weis as a head coach at recruiting, and probably out of anyone I know of, not just as a HC. He puts more effort into recruiting than his assistants did--one of the problems he had. He's the main reason Manti Te'o is at ND, as well as a number of others. Third, I think the reputation of Weis as a bad guy is overblown and sensationalized. This is the perfect example of how the media, meaning the mass media, spins a story to however they want it to be." I guess that kind of refutes your "by all accounts" statement, doesn't it now, Commander Massengill?

Another post from the same guy that teedub referred to earlier...
" First, Bellichick doesn't allow his assistants to talk to the media very often at all. We learned that covering Weis at ND. So Weis hadn't had a lot of media experience before he came to ND. Pretty much none. I'm not going to say Charlie is an angel, because he's not. If you find yourself on the wrong side at some point it can be an unpleasant experience, no question. But I covered the guy for 5 years. I can only give you my experience. He truly liked the local media. But all coaches, I believe, are in fear of the national media. There is quite a difference between the two and the jobs they do. I think Weis understood that the local media was there just to cover the team and not to be his adversary. From being in countless press conferences over the years, a lot of national media come with an agenda, and Weis and a lot of coaches know that. I believe Charlie's relationship with the local media was very good. I say this because I was there. I didn't ask everyone covering ND, but from what I gathered, everyone seemed to like him. The national media, that's a different story. But I rarely, if ever, saw him actually be rude to anyone in the national media, even when it was obvious what angle they were taking with their story. Like I said, I'm not saying Weis is an angel. But I can only speak on my experience with the guy, and how he treated me and those around me. If you're a local guy, and you're fair with him, he will treat you very well. At least he did at ND."

“I think Kansas fans should be excited about Sheahon’s (Zenger) football hire today. We hired a guy that has an unbelievable resume and has experienced success at the highest levels. In his first two years at Notre Dame, he coached in BCS bowls. With the (New England) Patriots he won three Super Bowls. With the (New York) Giants, he won one Super Bowl and has participated in another Super Bowl. He’s been a coach for a long time and obviously has a great mind. I think this is one that will definitely ripple waters in our league.” -Bill Self

I don't think a lot of the former Belichick guys have proved anything except that they can have success in close proximity to Bill Belichick

I remember when Haley was hired his bio listed his oldest daughter at 14 (in Feb 2009). Unless she has a fall (or Jan) BD she probably is a HS senior this year. I wonder if Haley would let her attend KU.
