I think this thread is veering slightly off topic.......

Grand Funk Railroad and Uriah Heep and Peter Tosh and Paul Revere and the Raiders? I think most people over 35 know them if they listen to music at all.

Never heard of the Aggrolites so that's a band I'll take a listen to to see if I like.....that I appreciate.

I feel the same way about Radiohead, I love Creep but I can't stand anything else they have released and yet they win awards.

Besides Kings of Leon, but other favorite current artist is Alex Band, sometimes he uses Alex Max Band, "Band" is actually his last name. Other times he tours as his original recording band "The Calling". The Calling featuring Alex Band. It's a bit confusing, but if he goes anywhere else in the world, Germany, Brazil, Korea or the Philippines, he draws large crowds. He started with The Calling about 2000 with their first album and they had one huge hit that was #1, Wherever You Will Go. I think he has a fantastic voice, here he is live in Brazil.

A British band called Skinny Lister caught my ear at SXSW a few years ago. They've got good energy and they seem fun.

His first big hit, this guy should be huge

Besides being a really good song, it's recorded very well.

If you like Kings of Leon, you'll love these guys

The singer reminds of the guy from The Darkness, in fact with mustache curl I think he's going for the same look. They have a bit of theatrics, the video has about a 1 minute lead in, but they've got a sort of Queen or Adam Lambert kind of sound.

This is an unknown band, but more of an oddity than anything. In 1980 a disco band out of Miami called La Flavour decided to scrap their image and become a hard rock band and change their name to Fair Warning. Their debut disco album was produced by Mark Avsec of Wild Cherry and later Donnie Iris Band. He had written a hard rock song, She don't Know Me, and it was intended to be the lead off single for Fair Warning debut rock album.

Fair Warning and Bon Jovi were both signed by Mercury Records. This is the recording of She Don't know Me by Fair Warning from an album that was never released. The label decided that Bon Jovi had a better image and shelved the Fair Warning album, never to be seen again, and gave the song to Bon Jovi. It was the second single after Runway from his debut album and was the only song by the band Bon Jovi that was not penned by Jon Bon Jovi or another member of his band. Truth be told, I love the Fair Warning version of the song!!

That was interesting. The Fair Warning version seemed like a partial recording, as there were holes in the song where you'd normally expect a guitar riffs. Still, it wasn't bad.

Sure must have pissed them off to hear somebody else signing it on the radio. What a brutal business.

I think also I like the Fair Warning version because I've always disliked Bon Jovi. I saw the Scorpions on the Love at First Sting tour of '84 in Savannah. BJ was the opening act and we didn't know who they were. The guy had the big hair and fishnet shirt and ran around the stage posing for the girls, we all started chanting The Scorpions. I know he's suppose to be a great guy, but I guess my first impression of him has lasted and then his label screwed this other band.

Funny story - I was on a seven month Med cruise during 1986 when they exploded in popularity. I had never heard of them before before that. Suddenly I kept hearing about this new performer named Bon Jovi that was all the rage, but had no access to the music. I just assumed that Bon was a first name, and Jovi was the last. Figured it was probably a black guy.

I remember the first time I saw one of their videos on MTV when I got back. That's Bon Jovi? Wow.
