I had the most awesome shrimp & grits last night. It was a very unusual version where the shrimp were in a bourbon maple sauce with bacon bits that was out-of-this-world. The grits were very creamy with cheese, but without a strong cheese taste. Just the creamiest thickest I think I ever had—not at all soupy.

The salad had real green leaves with cukes, tomatoes and a big pile of grated carrot and some red/purple onion. The dressing was a citrus poppy seed vinaigrette that was also out of this world.

My SO had fish and chips with a good thick white fish in the middle and not something buried and disguised in a thick batter. Green beans that maintained their green color, showing this place didn't serve over-cooked deficient veggies. The cole slaw was uber fresh too. So the place cooks healthy. I liked that.

I was nervous at first about what I would be getting as it was a casual place and new. I am definitely gonna have to go back there again.

I didn't bring my camera to this new restaurant as it was a spur of the moment decision to eat out after some surprise company here yesterday afternoon.

for quick and easy you can do a no-boil lasagna.....just whip up some good meat sauce

(or simmer 2 jars of your favorite sauce with like 1 pound of meat, 1 pound of mild italian sausage , and a bunch of diced mushrooms and onions)

layer the noodles 'raw' alternating with sauce..followed by more noodles, but throw in some cottage cheese in each layer, with salt and pepper sprinkd up on that bitch

and put a thin layer of sauce on top.

bake that shit like 350 for 70-90 minutes till that shit bubbles and turns all golden and brown or read the box

when it comes out, sprinkle the **** out of it with mixed shredded white & orange cheese

and let that bitch rest a while

serve with salad for mom and dad

protip
during the hour that shit is baking clean the kitchen up a lil bit
do the dishes
hit the floor with a mop
pour your woman some wine

YOU GON GET YO DICK SUCKED MY NINJA

I love Barilla 'oven ready' but any no-boil will do homey

Cottage cheese in lasagne—eeeeeeeoooooooooooowwwww!

It's just as easy to toss in some ricotta. Just whip in an egg and some mozzarella and parm.

i dont like ricotta personally

i like cottage cheese much better, maybe you should try 1/2 and 1/2

Id rather do a mix of cottage cheese and something else than ricotta - like shredded jack/moz

seriously ricotta sucks...try a mixture of cottage cheese and shredded colby instead of ricotta next lasagna

you wont be sorry

* see even YOU admit you have to 'whip in egg and moz & parm' to make ricotta taste good....! try cottage some time., or a mix of cottage and colby..plus its a bit healthier as well

I agree. Cottage cheese in lasagna is nasty. Ricotta. And yes, I've tried cottage cheese in lasagna - I grew up eating it that way.

Though I never do "quick" lasagna, so if I'm going to do the work, I go all out and make a béchamel these days. Far, far superior to ricotta or cottage cheese.
