It's a terrible season to be sure. I hope this doesn't go on for a decade. Even for basketball, that would be unacceptable. I don't even care about getting to the level of Kentucky. Nobody else is getting to that level, obviously. Competitive would be nice, though.

I would just like to be at a level in which we aren't 32 points worse than them. And I really would like to be at a level where our second worst losing margin of the season isn't by 20 points to a mediocre team. You'll certainly never see me brag about a basketball team that does that. That may fly in some pissant mid-major conference, but it doesn't sit well with me in the SEC.

It's kind of funny how predictable it is. They think the team is going to be the greatest thing ever. They get humiliated by Kentucky...as in they don't belong on the same court...but it's Kentucky. Then, they get splattered by Temple...absolutely boat raced...down 30 points before Temple clears the bench, and they start to realize what they are.

But then conference play starts, and they beat up on Iowa State and Texas Tech and TCU...and teams with coaches like Rick Barnes, Larry Drew, and Bruce Webber. Suddenly, they think they're a great team again.

I've seen this movie before.
