Yesterday we brought to you the news that a reveal of Bungie's next project, Destiny, was being hinted at for this upcoming Monday, February 18 – an augmented-reality game on the studio's website seemed to be pointing toward that date. Well, we won't have to wait quite that long. It's now been announced that Destiny will be unveiled one day earlier than we thought, on this Sunday, February 17.
An official Facebook page went live today and made that announcement as its first order of business. A Twitter account for the game has also been activated as well.
And if all that isn't enough to get you hyped, have a first look at the game's just-revealed logo as well:

I don't like the fact that existing legendaries can't be leveled up any further. Also love a few of the existing exotics like Saint-14, Obsidian Mind, Ram that although I can continue to use won't have the same armor values as newer gear.

Let me keep my damn Fatebringer Bungie!!! Damn you! This is their solution to lack of vault space...just delete most of your year one legendaries and replace them with auto rifles with shank/dreg buffs.

Well, they did say only your legandaries can't be ascended in year 2. They didn't mention exotics. I believe they'll be able to be ascended at some point. They're rare and almost like treasures. I don't think Bungie would make them irrelevant. I'm excited for new guns though. I want the game to feel like a brand new game, and parting with old gear is part of it. Either way, I'm stoked. Love that Fatebinger though

I doubt it. Long term it hurts them if they allow it. Unless they increase storage a ton you will run out if they keep letting you upgrade them. They will quit and make the guns useless so you use the new guns.

then probably sell skin packs to get the style you want on newer guns.

Yeah, I can see that. Storage space is key. I don't know if there is a way they can only increase it on the One and leave the 360 as is. That'll cause some major bitching I imagine. Is has to be addressed at some point.

My guess is you'll see new versions of stuff like Fatebringer in the 2.0 versions of the vanilla raids, but that's just a guess. Either way, like I said yesterday, this is pretty much standard in the MMO playbook, and while it may not fit the 'massively' part of the acronym, Destiny has followed that playbook. Everything is gated progression, and it's normal in MMOs for expansions to bring completely new equipment tiers that render older gear obsolete. That's how they keep you hooked into the grind, always giving you something new to work toward.

It's what drives me to play for sure. I love chasing new armor and weapons. Ascension and reforging was a mistake IMO.

Keeping the old gear would have been a huge turn off for me.

Existing gear should be fine in normal Crucible at least. If that's your thing.

Except the quality of legendary weapons has largely trended in the wrong direction since vanilla Destiny. VOG > CE (excluding Blackhammer/Hunger) > POE.

Hopefully King's Fall (and Taken King generally) will reverse that trend.

In any event, 3 new strikes and access to the 2 PS exclusives will be nice. .

So I joined in about three weeks ago now with Cave Johnson. I saw they were on Skolas and there was only two of them.

The other guy we had with us was a titan, a random that Cave had found. We seriously spent an hour with this clown before he finally quit. The drops are reeruned. I was lucky enough to get a 2 ghorns really early on but a lot of shit since. For some reason I get universal remotes all the god damn time. I think I've got between 8-10. Still yet to see fatebringer, voc, icebreaker, and a lot more

I was 800 hours in before I got my first. Shit, I was running a Big Rig XXL back then. After the first dropped I dropped 5 more within a month.
