The only thing I can think of that is comparable was the National Title game between Miami & Ohio St. When that flag in the end zone was thrown about 5 minutes after the play. And there was no penalty.

There was that one time in Cleveland where a play was reviewed and reversed after a subsequent play had already been run and completed.

The refs were pelted with garbage as the reviewed play ended the game.

That was just a regular season game though.

I've never been the type to blame one call on one play as a "reason" why a team wins or loses.

Much less a call/play that happens with over 8:00 left in the game.

There was handfighting both ways and a facemask on Pettigrew - so I have no problem with a no call, or offsetting flags.

Regardless, that call isn't the reason why Detroit lost.

Sorry Doc Brown, this isn't a Jack Clark dropping a foul ball situation. If that penalty is upheld, they don't punt, the Cowboys don't get the ball at midfield. Likely worst case scenario Detroit kicks a FG and Dallas has less time the to navigate the whole field to win.

And on top of that, if Dallas still does score, Detroit only needs a FG to win at the end.
