Losing Molina was a serious blow. No way to spin that. You will need several players to step up to replace him offensively and what we lose defensively. He said he is going to travel with the team. That will help Cruz or Kattaros call the pitches and handle the pitchers better.

I saw a clip on MLB network of a meeting on the field during batting practice the day the team found out Molina is going to the DL. All the players were gathered in a group, no coaches. Holliday was talking to the group very animatedly and the players were listening closely, nodding their heads, putting their hands on another players shoulder etc. We will see if they really do have team chemistry now.

Regardless of what happens the rest of the way, I hope the team starts to seriously evaluate Molina's usage. They can't run him out there for 145 games a year and expect his lower body and his hitting to hold up.

This injury is devastating, but it might also have the silver lining of taking some wear off his legs so that if the team is in contention late, they have a fresh Yadi to fall back upon.
