****OFFICIAL Chiefs Injury Update Thread****
We're getting to a crucial part of the season, and right now it feels like the most important thing to keep track of is the health of a handful of key guys. When Maclin comes back he'll be able to attract enough attention to make Kelce and Hill even more effective, and when Ford comes back, well, the pass rush could become literally unstoppable. Then there's Poe's nagging back spasms, Howard's hip, and Alex Smith's severe allergic reaction to throwing the ball downfield.

Starting this thread to have a centralized place for updates, speculation, and wbf's! Have fun, folks!!!

CURRENT UPDATES:

Justin Houston is PRACTICING today, and Andy Reid thinks he'll be ready to go on Sunday!

Phillip Gaines is OUT for Sunday... whatever!

Bailey is much better against the run, and the Chiefs do need to be better in that dept, but again that's not to say Roches can't improve in that dept and he was in the backfield multipe times vs DEN stopping the run.

Is Jamaal Charles a Chief next season? At the beginning of the season I was for cutting the guy w/ the emergence of Ware. Personally if I were a GM, I would never invest big money or high draft picks on RB's. I think in today's game they're a dime a dozen. Sure there are the elite ones that are no question ready from day-1, 1st rd talents like AP etc. But it's also the position where you can get almost the same value out of someone like AP as you can w/ an UDFA. Lots of parity at that position. We see that w/ West and Ware.

But now our running game sucks balls so much right now, I mean does anyone thing Charles is going to be back for the playoffs if full form assuming the Chiefs make it to the playoffs? If he is back to full form then he's the best player on the field, but I think that's highly unlikely.

Berry and Poe both have to be paid. That's not even including Marcus Peters. What if he continues to tear it up and all of a sudden he wants a contract ext after the 2017 season?? And if he keeps it up...he's going to demand a HUUUUGE payday. Chiefs will have to make some interesting decisions.
This is mother ****ing lunacy.

The guy has a pulled groin. What do you want him to do? He played in a playoff game last year with a horrible ankle injury.

And no, under no condition should they cut Maclin.

Like the Chiefs training staff doesn't have a say in whether he plays or not. Some of you seriously act like these guys are sitting with hangnails. Have you ever had a groin injury? Could you run a route with a groin injury?

This myth that certain elements of the fan base cling to about the alleged benefit of over conservatively protecting injured players and only bringing them back for "important" (i.e. divisional) games is laughably moronic.

To expect a player to jump right back into game action and make an instant impact without an adjustment period is unrealistic. See Justin Houston's first game back against Tampa as Exhibit A of this.

If Maclin is ready to play (which he likely is) then he should play.

We should totally try to bring a player with a lingering injury back 4 days before playing the division leader so he can play in literally the least important game left on the schedule.
