Pokemon Go: Augmented Reality (AR) Game For Your Smart Phone

To Be The Very Best: Pokémon Enters Into Augmented Reality

Gabriel Rosenberg

Halfway through your walk to school, a wild Charmander appears. Just a few throws of a Pokéball, and it could be yours. Will you stop to catch it? Nintendo is betting you will. Not just that, they're betting that you've waited most of your life to see a Pokémon in the real world. Pokémon Go — the upcoming iOS and Android app from Nintendo, The Pokémon Co., and developer Niantic Labs — promises to let anyone with a smart phone "find" and train the diverse creatures of Pokémon all around them. For aspiring Trainers, it could be an entirely new way to interact with a now 20-year-old franchise. For these companies, though, Pokémon Go — which launches for free sometime in July — offers the biggest opportunity yet to bring augmented reality into the mainstream, a chance to prove not only that AR technology is ready for people, but that people are ready for AR.

I thought it was an interesting idea, AR rather than VR. I've seen lots of apps that kind of do this already-mostly playing with pictures to add makeup or special effects. I'm not fond of the Pokemon craze but a Google Maps type of integration and ( I assume) a way of monetizing the app by opening it up to sponsored locations sounds intriguing.

The even sadder part is, if you watch the video they play some of the 911 call.. this is a grown man, not a kid, doing this. ****in 4 chan neckbeard POS.

I think maybe Summits bed made of money will comfort him tonight though, so there is that.
Summit is mah boi watch him a ton. But geez a sad state of affairs.

After finding a phone number for the father, Brent Daley, a deputy called and informed Daley his son had been found abandoned, Babeu said. The dad replied, “Whatever,” and hung up, the sheriff said.

But, yeah, go ahead and blame an app for these people being shitty parents.
