Not sure what my 40 time actually was, but I know the bunch of guys after me all went by with better numbers.
I was insanely strong in school, but my arthritic knees (which would keep giving out) was the main reason I never made any sports teams (well that and my JW parents refusing to let me). I almost cracked the 1000lb club in grade 11, (was at 930 bench, incline, squats and cleans ) . But unfortunatly not for long, my joints started giving out. Still have wicked work strength, not many folks can climb 2-3 flights of stairs carrying a 65lb box of CGC plaster in both hands 10-15 times consecutivly, THEN start work for the day.

9 out of 10 people who ask me to try mine on, never make it past the first or second step away from the bench they stood on strapping them up, me I just stand em up, hop up on em, and strap up one, then the other.. Again, years of practice and balance. I have a standing bet to any one who comes onto my job sites, ....drop a $20 on the floor, I`ll pick it up WITHOUT using ANYTHING but my hands (ie, no pole sander, claw reach devise etc) strapped in my stilts set for 8ft ceilings. Not many people take me up on it, after they watch me flick a sanding sponge onto teh front stilt pad of my right leg,. take a step and snatch it out of the air when I flip kick it up if I`ve dropped it. Same for a taping knife, or phillips screwdriver...If I can get it perched on a foot pad, I can send it airborn and catch it.

Never actually ran the 40, but I suspect that my "chicken for strength, waffles for speed" plan was flawed.

Pretty sure the 1000 was bench, squats and cleans...if you didn't hit 300 on bench you weren't making the 1000 lb. Club...

Bench, squat, deadlift. Most guys that made the club did 250 bench, 350 squat and 450 deadlift. Although my friend that hit the club in '82 did it with a 335 bench. |

Those #s look about right for making the 1000 club. You don't have to bench 300 to make it. I had guys in HS that had insane dead lifts.

I don't think don beebe could break a 4.4 in his prime and we have guys on cp breaking a 4.3...whatever. my point is...kust because your high school coach timed your 35 at 4.5 doesn't mean you were actually that fast.

And I guess everyone who wants to bash me forgets three pages ago some southpaw had scouts "begging him" to come out for the draft with his 90 mph fastball but he didn't...you know...even though you remain amateur status in baseball regardless of whether or not you're drafted...but yeah...I'm sure you're all being 100% truthful! Its like an episode from always sunny when mac and charlie are reminiscing about high school and dennis is laughing because they were remembering things all wrong (as they were total losers)...I'm sure 1 or 2 people on this board might have had 4.5 speed at one point (maybe) but I know 35 of you didn't....
