Will the Royals get a playoff win before the Chiefs?

As bad as the Royals have been for the last 15 years, KC seems to be happy with the direction they're going (the moves they've made this offseason), moreso than the Chiefs. Will they get a playoff victory before the Chiefs (series)?

I've been thinking about this alot this week, and I wanted to start a thread about it, but this seems an appropriate place.

Going into the Miami Dolphins game, there was a dominant feeling around the Chiefs that losing games would actually be beneficial. We'd probably lose in Florida. There was no way we were gonna beat the Patriots.

When the Royals got into the postseason officially, and the fanbase knew there was a home playoff game to be played on Tuesday, I felt like the attititude changed. I called my friend and said "I think we're going to ****ing destroy the Patriots. Monday night, arrowhead rocking, and the whole town has a spirit of LET'S WIN. No one wants to cheer for a loss or a first round QB this week. They want to win."

I think the Royals helped lay the groundwork for a Chiefs win on Monday night, and not the other way around. Right now there's such a spirit of "**** this I'm tired of losing" that I think even cynics (myself included) who would love to see the Chiefs have a high draft position this year, given all our picks, are instead feeling optimistic. We can win with Alex Smith! We can win with Ned Yost!

This was a huge turning point in the psyche of KC sports. Now, whether we choose to stay on this new path or turn back around toward the familiar one of pessimism and heartbreak is up to us. But hot damn doesn't it feel good to just win?

I appreciate your post, I do. But until this team and the royals get past the ol' 7-9, early exit method, my optimism remains in-check.

Great post.

Oh and by the way, on the neg rep you gave me when I posted "game over" following the 1st inning HR, I was totally joking. I guess that's impossible to tell through plain text though. I was trying to rally the fans in the game thread when we were down 7-3.

They'll win a championship before the Chiefs win a playoff game.

They have a chance to bring the WS games to KC, and since we won't ever get a Super Bowl it'll be the biggest sporting event ever in our town.

Looking back to the time this thread started it's crazy it worked out the way it did. Seemed MLB had teams like the Royals just to fill schedules for contenders. That's the way we came to understand baseball in the modern era, & it sucked. This is a great time, how many occasions during these last seven games have I had to check a misplaced "hunch" that we'd lose because these guys are capable of playing ~consistently~ above expectations. Pretty incredible.

This thread was created a few months after the Royals finished their 3rd 100 loss season in a row. Incredible.

We have come a loooong way my friends

And it will have no effect on the Chiefs whatsoever. It will not inspire, it will not carry over, it will simply be what it is.

Whew! I'm glad I didn't post in this thread when it was first posted. I'm pretty sure I would have said the Chiefs.

Duh.

If you had told me, say, in 93-95, 1997, etc. That the Royals would win a playoff game before the Chiefs did, and that it would be 15 years...I would've asked for a hit of what you're smoking.

It's ****ing miserable, really.
