LOL @ the people who dropped $100 to watch a boxer who was 49-0 beat a man who has never professionally boxed before. Shocking outcome!

LOL

LOL

I didn't pay a penny. But I watched a fight live in front of me from 2 feet away. And the TV at 10ft away at the same time.

I love my family.

If your life was on the line, that's how you would have wanted Floyd to fight, because it ensured there was no way he could lose. Let the guy that can't outbox you but just might have some power tire himself out, then pick him apart.

Mayweather isn't Rocky. He's not going to just absorb jab-straight to get inside. He's going to fight defensively, potshot you, and then break you down. He uses the first few rounds to make a Rosetta Stone, then he deciphers your ass.

He allowed McGregor to hang around because allowing him to hang around was the 100% path to victory rather than the 99.9999% path to victory. It's what he does. The guy is the greatest tactical fighter I've ever seen.

McGregor did not belong in that ring. As I said elsewhere, he threw sloppy punches with no snap on them. He couldn't hurt Floyd at all, his accuracy was shit, and his footwork was as plodding as Wladimir Klitschko. Floyd dragged him out into the deep waters and drowned him. He carried him long enough to give the people a show, then he put a bow on it.

Floyd barely had a bead of sweat on him, and he was mugging throughout the whole fight. It reminded me of when Roy Jones would play USBA games then beat the **** out of some off-duty cop later in the evening.

Sounds like Alex Smith would be a great boxer.

And now this thread is ruined.

I get the "taking away Conor's puncher's chance" approach, but it looked shitty. I wanted to see Floyd dodging shit and countering. I wanted the mismatch to actually look like one before the 8th round.

It was a mismatch the entire fight, though. That's why boxing journalists were calling McGregor's punches, "pathetic."

Floyd dodged shit the entire fight. It wasn't as pretty as Roy Jones mean mugging and knocking out a guy after he had his hand behind his back, but it was effective defense.

There's a saying, "the best swordsman in the world doesn't need to fear the second-best swordsman. He needs to fear the worst swordsman."

That's the approach Floyd took tonight. McGregor gave him some weird angles and it did take Floyd a while to figure it out because McGregor was doing almost everything wrong. His corner didn't even have an enswell (which is as bad as Tyson's shitbag corner using a water-filled condom on his eye against Douglas) and I'm not even sure they gave him water between rounds. It doesn't make for the explosive fireworks of a GGG fight, but it is effective.

Floyd is a defensive fighter first, just like Bernard Hopkins, Winky Wright, and Andre Ward. Those guys don't often have interesting bouts with highlight reel knockouts, but what they almost always do is win.

Hamas, I get all that. I know that it was a mismatch the entire time. But it doesn't look like a mismatch when Floyd shells up and walks into Conor like a zombie to tire him out. I wanted to see the chasm in skill from the jump. I wanted to see a Roy Jones, Jr. right hook from behind the back or, for something more recent, a Lomachenko sticking his face into Marriaga's gloves

The worst swordsman analogy is great, though. I've never heard that before and it makes a lot of sense.

Easy gameplan for Floyd and I could really tell he was implementing it early on. He was just laughing at the stuff Conor was throwing. And waiting for him to get tired so he could knock him out. And Conor fell right into it because he didn't have a choice. It was knock Floyd out early somehow or lose. Still, I give him props. Hell of a payday for both.

Rousey is washed up. to be fair, she's only really fought low tier female talent. WHen she fought real talent after the females have leveled up as a whole, she got left behind and fast.
