If you were drafted into the Chiefsplanet army...
I have a list of 177 careers in the U.S. army, taken from this site: http://www.goarmy.com/careers-and-jo...iation#results
You have now been drafted into the Chiefsplanet army. Report to this thread and I will randomly assign you a career. As background, I have no idea how many people work in each of these careers, so I made a complete guess. For example, I know infantry is going to be the biggest, but I don't know how may people are dental specialists or radar repairers. So I guessed, making sure that no field is less than 0.1 percent. This may make the army band bigger than normal, but I'm not really worried about it. So...ten-HUT, soldiers! Show up and get your duty rosters! |

I initially considered applying for an educational deferment, however, it was time to fulfill my duty to this community.

Why would infantry be the biggest pool of soldiers? As a blue cord honoree I kinda take offense to that. Those in a support MOS make up about 75-80% of military personel. The biggest #'s should be cooks and mechanics.

cp (rain man) values the infantry (as well as concrete and asphalt...?), how is that offensive? and how many cooks do you know lol you think there are more cooks than 11b? support MOSs may make up the majority of the army, but that includes hundreds of MOSs; combat arms, however, is broken down into only a handful of MOSs. sign me up Last edited by hawkeyed; 04-16-2012 at 01:56 AM.. |

M1 Armor Crewman (Description on Post 2. I call shotgun.) Now that I think about it, do you call shotgun on a tank? Or do you call howitzer?

As I mentioned in the opening post, I didn't know how many are in each career and was too lazy to do the research. I know that in WWII the Service Forces were roughly the same size as the Ground Forces, so in this exercise I put 50% of the people into the combat careers (27% infantry and 23% other) and 50% of the people into all of the other careers, which include administration, mechanics, construction, combat support, intelligence, medical, and all of the others. I have an inkling that the Services Forces (or whatever they're called today) may be a bigger proportion, but wasn't sure. So you think they're 75-80%?
