Herrera's WHIP is 1.25, so not as high as I thought, but he is just plain getting hit hard. In 2015 Holland was 1.455 but his ERA was still a full run lower than Herrera's right now. In 2013 and 2014 Holland's WHIP was under one. Herrera has only done that once, Holland has done it three times and working towards a fourth now. Just looking at these stats though, Holland really is having a great season.

I really wonder if Herrera is somehow tipping one of his pitches. When you throw mostly two pitches you only need to tip one for the hitter to really know what's coming.

He had a problem with that once a couple years ago. But, I think he has lost a little on his fastball and he does not get swings on pitches that break out of the zone.

He does not seem to be the same guy and while you root for him to close the game, he does not inspire the confidence that Royals fans had when it was H-D-H or even 2016 Herrera and Davis.

The ballpark architect who came up with the distance of the wall from home plate had more to do with that no-runs allowed save than Herrerra.

I know Sale had a years-long streak of not allowing a HR to a left handed batter and Hosmer broke it during a game last year and then hit another in his next at bat.

I know one of the homers was opposite field. Do not remember the other one.

I bet they break out the footage during tomorrow's broadcast.

Power is expensive. It's actually a competitive advantage for a small market club. Can pick up cheaper fly ball pitchers and defensive oriented guys who don't command as large of contracts.
