7-9 and a dick in the ass every year. We need a QB. If this one fails, then at least we'll be in the perfect position to take another until we get it right. |

Maybe I'm a QB hoarder, but I think we should draft Geno Smith and a project QB like Zac Dysert just in case. Why the hell not at this point?

Sign Alex Smith in the offseason as a stop-gap until the bye-week. Let him know that he will get a chance to be the starter here. Then you have completely reshaped the QB picture for the next four years at least. Give Geno 2-3 years to show what he has. If he doesn't pan out, give Dysert a year. Draft another project QB in 2014/2015 just in case. Draft a high ceiling, but underdeveloped QB every other year and we should eventually find our guy.

Rookies these days come into the league more ready than ever. No sense, IMO, at drafting one and having him sit.

139-231 (60.2%) for 1365 yards, 11 TD, 5 INT
Geno's combined stats in his five "bad" games. i.e. WVU's losses. If that's getting his "ass whooped," I'd be thrilled to see it happening here next year. |

Yep, I would be pissed if we took Geno with the first and let him sit. Plenty of rookies have success while starting right away. We just waste another year or two by letting our qb hold a clipboard and watch another journeyman qb lead us to 8-8 records.

Geno needs to start game one through game 259 for us.
Besides Aaron Rodgers, when was the last time a high first round pick at quarterback sat at the start of his career and was better for it? Play the kid and let him learn under fire. |

No clue if he had the NFL skills to begin with, but the way he's played makes me think that some time on the bench certainly couldn't have hurt. The Jaguars had Garrard under contract, too. They let him go to save money. They really should have kept him around for at least Gabbert's rookie year. |

I personally don't give a crap. I just am comparing the difference between this years crop of QBs compared to the previous two draft classes and I see a lot more similarities to 2011 than to 2012.
