Changes that need made to turn the season around

Let's get right down to it.

Start Chase Daniel or Aaron Murray....I think the team would rally around either guy.
Run the ball more...get West and Sherman involved a lot more.
Start Conley and get him involved in the weekly gameplan...this should be our counter punch to teams consistently blitzing.
Activate Steven Nelson and have him play the nickel.
Feed the ball to Kelce and Maclin a lot more...especially on third down.
Let Howard have the NT job full time. The DL was stronger when he was playing more reps. At least IMO.
Move Poe to end full time.
Andy needs to hand over play calling duties to Childress, or Pederson.

I know there are lots of other changes that need made, but that should get us started.

Did I not clearly spell out that my post was not in defense of Alex Smith. He may very well be contributing his own shittiness to our turd sandwich, and I'm well aware that a decent number of sacks fall on his shoulders for holding the ball too long.

I don't think you'll ever break him of his anxiety of throwing it into tight spaces. He's expecting guys to break wide open as this is 7 on 7 football, and it ain't gonna happen.

That's NFL quarterbacking. Open is 2 feet of separation, and threading the needle. If he can't or won't do it, grab a clipboard and some sideline, Alice.

Now that that's cleared up. I'm still interested in being enlightened because I'll give you your due credit for your lineman accumen, but don't try to fluff me and say you disagree with the fact that this line is easily the absolute worst the Chiefs have had in well over the last 2 decades.

How does this team 2 years ago excel fairly well in the red zone to this year mistaking red zone to be code for have an abortion on the field.

As for the defense. If people want to go at the throat of Sutton, so be it. The reality is that with the state of the secondary what the **** can he run the isn't going to expose them ? They've been atrocious and the players ultimately shoulder the brunt of the responsibility just as much as they get the accolades and praise when they're kicking ass. It just not some surprise to me that Sutton has always run his defense a certain way, so when they don't have the personnel to run it effectively it shouldn't be a shock.

Of course it's frustrating when watching GB and we literally make next to zero adjustments.
So if at the end of the season if people want him fired, fine. It isn't because he can't coach defense, it's because he only knows his way to do it. When he has the pieces he needs to run it - namely press DBs who excel in man, it's a pretty ****ing awesome thing to watch dominating on the field.

Shitty circumstances that Gaines goes down and is out for the season, while our other starting CB is a lush that likes to go cruising after getting tipsy.

Generally, it all around sucks because this season has been a series of bizarre and pathetic turn of events. The end of the Denver game might just encapsulate how the entire 2015 season turns out.

Alex Smith wasn't playing nearly as scared in 2013, or even last year, as he is right now.

That ruptured spleen has clearly affected him.

He has never been able to quickly read defenses, but it's even worse now, because his eyes are on the rush as much, or more than they are on his first read.

As for Sutton, if you aren't going to mix in some zone to cover your weaknesses in the secondary, then you better mix in a few more blitzes to get the QB off his spot and force him out of his comfort zone.

Chase doesn't. A different QB might. I actually thought offensive playcalling was overall very good outside of the red zone. Better executed quick outside screens and solid horizontal spacing. The red zone was a cluster****. While Reid was shit in the red zone, this would have been a totally different game if we converted one single shot in the end zone. It frustrates me to no end that Alex never once threw into the end zone. What a coward to be that afraid to throw into a tight spot.

So what QB can fix Reid? That is the question that need to be asked. The shots to the end zone have more to do with the coaching than Smith.

Think about it for a moment. I've pointed it out a billion times here. Reid takes away the outlets and dumpoffs. And forces Smith to throw the ball then we have some merit in our discussions. But until then its a glaring coaching flaw no mediocre QB is gonna fix.

I don't think anyone can fix Alex Smith at this point. So give him a QB who isn't allergic to taking shots. Reid has coached for a very long time and he's never had a QB this conservative. So yeah, I am sure aa more aggressive QB will take the shots Alex didn't. I think Murray is the only of the 3 that will, but we'll have to scrap everything to make Murray work and he's not ready yet.

Also Reid and co brought in Smith right? They are failing to coach him up and he is regressing to classic Chiefs level of compentence at the QB position. What makes people that their decision of Chase being the backuo is any better. Obviously their judgment seriously flawed in the QB position.

He doesn't, but considering the options available at this point in the season, maybe Chase Daniel is someone who will be more aggressive in looking downfield and less likely to collapse under pressure than Alex "Jim Everett" Smith.

Just like no one can fix Reid. His is a seriously overrated coach that continues to fail with the same issues no matter where he is.

And the fact he can't adjust his offense for the QB to take shots tells you all you need to know about Reid. No QB can fix him.

He was ran the **** out of philly for the same shit. QB doesn't matter.

Wish I could believe it. But watching last years SD game. Change the name on the jersey to Smith and the results where the same.

Chase isn't going to improve Reids incompetent coaching.

He was run out of Philly because his defense sucked and he refused to run Lesean McCoy and he was terrible game manager. But for the most part, people thought his offense was aggressive. Maybe too aggressive and way to reliant on the passing game.

I get what you're saying. That Andy Reid isn't taking us anywhere. But again, I don't think any coach is coaching Alex smith to take shots. Andy has dialed up lots of plays the last few seasons that send receivers out and ALex constantly checks down into a receiver before the sticks.
