How old is your car?

Cars have become extremely reliable over the past 20 years. In 1996 the avg car in the road was 3 years old. In 2006 it was 10 and now it's 12.

How old is yours?

Heh, I was with a company a few years ago that thought it would be a good idea to get me a Subaru Forester to drive as a company vehicle. (The owner had kind of a tree hugger/lesbian thing going on.)

I hated that thing with every fiber of my being. Now mind you, the guys I call on are at mines, refineries, coal plants and other industrial facilities. You want to talk about taking some crap from those guys.

I would get home from my road trips and feel like I needed a shower after driving that granola wagon. Reattaching my nut sack and jumping in my truck after one of those trips always felt sooooooo good.

Three 2009s (two SUV, one economy) and a 2003 sedan. Sold a 1999 last year that was still running fine. 30 years ago putting 100,000 miles on a car meant it was close to dead; if you got 150,000 you were lucky. Now it’s commonplace to get 150, 200, 300k...

I own a couple Subaru Outbacks.

While the sterotype sucks, its a pretty great comuter car. Best thing I've ever driven in bad weather

I bought a Jeep Grand Cherokee new in 1993, and a one year old Jeep Grand Cherokee in 2002. Both had the 4.0 straight six engine, and both were great vehicles. Drove the crap out of the 2002. When it gave up the ghost in 2015, I looked at another JGC but they wanted close to $40 grand for the laredo! Got the Subaru Outback which had about the same storage space, boxer 4 engine that gets 30+ MPG on the highway, has heated seats and remote start, windshield heats up so your wipers don't ice up. It's a great car in bad weather. Great resale value, top safety pick. Just an all around great car. It's built in Indiana, so it's assembled in the USA.

And I can wear flannel and birkenstocks and listen to the Indigo Girls and kd Lang as much as I want.

The Forrester really IS a lesbomobile. Too small for most full grown burly men. Need to look at the Outback or now they make a big SUV. Can't remember what they call it, but it's brand new for 2018. It's about the size of a Ford Explorer.

I have a 2009 Forester and it is fine. Foresters before 2009 were more wagon like but 2009 on were average crossover size (and just as big as my dad's Outback). Unless you are a giant fatass or need to carry more than 4 people, the Forester is plenty big enough.

It's a great rig and an amazing snow car. I get 30+ MPG and have had zero problems. The reeruned stereotypes are all that person's mind. Other than Subaru's advertising, I don't see how a Forester is any different than driving a CR-V, RAV4, Tuscon, Rogue, whatever the **** Ford and Chevy sell in that segment, etc.

You've got that right. I knew if I ever hit a deer with that POS, I was going to die as well.
