Bottled water is out here as well.. but I have 8 one-gallon glass bottles on the way, and I am filling up my two 5-gallon carboys that I usually use for brewing. As long as you plan a little bit, water isn't an issue.

I still would like to have some before I need to filter anything. We're usually spared, so I am mostly prepared but not panicking. Unless I listen to Hog Farmer. |

I went to Costco in Myrtle Beach around 3:30 pm today to get 4 cases of water and the guy said that there were over 500 people waiting in line first thing in the morning. They were sold out. He said they'll have more tomorrow, but you'd have to show up at 5 am probably to get any.

I have 15 cases of water. I bought it 3 weeks ago. I stock up every August. I put as many as I can in my freezers. The frozen water bottles keep the food cold in the freezer if you loose power, and you can't get back in to your location. Leave early if you can, the causeways close down when the wind hits 45 mph. The police have to make sure the island and causeways are clear of downed trees and power lines. It could be days before they let you back in.

My brother has a place in Marathon and just sold his Turtle Bay condo near Grove City a few months ago. Hopefully the one in Marathon is still around after the beast rolls in.

I remember post Sandy gas prices around $6-8 a gallon. For 2 weeks of no power that wasn't fun. Not to mention the 1 hour drive to find any and the line that would explode out of thin air when people got word that a station got gas.
People would just tail tankers until they stopped at whatever station they were going to. Owners would tell people in town what time the next morning the truck was coming. It was crazy. Sandy changed our lives for 2 weeks and our area didn't get hit bad by actual flooding. I can't even imagine what people who suffer through the flooding as well have to deal with. |

I had a business trip to Florida that got canceled, and it bummed me out a little. But now I'm thinking it may work out for the best. In full disclosure, it would've been a week or so after the predicted landfall, but it still might've involved digging through a bunch of wreckage to get to my meetings.
