I think it just comes from zillas point that he doesn't enjoy watching the Warrior's brand of basketball --- or more specifically, hunting 3's and making difficult 26 footers. I get his point. It's an unusual perspective, so he's getting negative response, but I'm sure there are people that don't like The Godfather. They respect the movie and the work to create it, but don't want to watch it. Fair enough.

I think that it's the fact that he keeps referring to what Curry does as chucking prayer shots. Implying that there is very little skill involved in what he does, that it's all luck.

It's not. It takes much greater skill to do what Curry does on a regular basis than to do what Lebron or any other athletic freak does with the basketball. Curry isn't relying on pure athleticism to dominate the opposition, what he does is pure skill and it's something that only he is capable of pulling off consistently.

As Steve Nash said, "I think you’d be hard pressed to find a player more skilled than him in the history of the game."

Tbh, the complaints against Curry and the Warriors just sound like a bunch of fans who are bitter that Steph and Klay aren't on their team.

I will come to zilla defense on this. I coach young kids in basketball and everyone of them tries to be like Curry. They try and jack up 3's from as far back as they can. It screws up their mechanics since they are not strong enough to shoot that far out yet. They practice that in school and on their down time. Because that is the IN thing to do right now.

I won't let any of my kids shoot outside the paint because until they have the strength to shoot 3's with proper form it will do more harm than good. Practicing the Iverson cross growing up was a lot different then trying to throw the ball from as far out as possible because they saw Curry do it.

His "good reasons" he doesn't like Curry is because of his prayer shots and that he chucks shots up. How are those good reasons when Curry is the best 3 point shooter in the history of the world?

Say you don't like his style of play all you want, but don't reduce it to just "chucking" up shots like he's Nick Young or some shit. That's just silly.

Semantics. It's not chucking for Curry, and he's acknowledged that several times. It is chucking if most other people do it, and that's where the term is coming from.

Exactly. Getting upset over the word "chucking" is more of the overly sensitive reaction I've been reading if anybody has a single comment to make about Curry that isn't OH MY GOD HE'S T3H BEST EVAR!!!

If the term doesn't apply to curry, then why use it when discussing him?

When Matt Stafford throws a deep ball, I say he's heaving up a prayer. I don't use that term when I talk about Aaron Rodgers's deep balls.

It's comments like these that give me heartburn.

Curry is an elite player. But let's not go that far.

Curry chucks up a lot of wild shots and hits them at a consistently high %. I don't see any issue with saying that.

But let's not blow his game up to more than what it is. A lot of his game is built off of iso dribble and a lot of ball movement is generated from him being surrounded by defenders and having ballhandling skills to dribble his way out and find wide open teammates. We've seen some of that story fall apart some when draymond looks like shit and Iguodala or Barnes don't hit their open shots. He plays with a supporting cast that is playoff caliber even without him. On defense, he plays excellent within his role, but he is not a good man defender. His supporting defense is so good that he can play a specialized role on defense.

So yeah, I think his all around game is a bit overrated. But he is still an elite player in my book and the most dangerous offensive player in my book. I know kc connections laughing because I've done this same harsh critique on LeBron when I felt he was also getting overhyped. I wouldn't feel quite this way about Curry if he wasnt elevated to indefensible God status
Is shooting a skill? Yes or no.

Is driving in the paint, throwing up a prayer layup (and yes it is prayer shot) and flopping on the ground like you got shot a skill? Yes or no.

And no one is putting him on god status we just recognize he is the best pure shooter probably ever in the NBA.

You know what I hate about today's NBA? Seeing Lebron chuck all those passes just ruins the game. Yeah he makes the pass at a consistently high % but he is still chucking passes. I really hope kids today aren't learning how to chuck passes like Lebron.

I remember the good ole days of chest passes and bounce passes.

Steve Nash ruined the passing game with all his wild behind the back, no look, between the legs passes.

How can we forget about Jordan? He ruined the game by chucking dunks. He would take off from the free throw line and dunk it and yeah he was successful at a 99.9% rate but he was a dunk chucker for sure. Totally destroyed the NBA and it took years from them to recover.

And just so this doesn't go ignored this is the best post on this subject. Wish I could have said it as good as OldSchool. 100% agree.
