This is a franchise that has made the postseason 10 times in the last 14 seasons.
Reached three World Series in the last decade, and won as many championships (two) the past eight seasons as it did from 1965 to 2005.
Our new Manager has more post season experience than any other manager in baseball, except the Giants manager.
Three million attendance? Take it to the bank.
60 post season wins since 2004. 20+ wins more than any other team.
Only one of the last 14 seasons has been a losing one.

I know I am beating a dead horse here, but fire Mabry. Here is what the Cardinals do well offensively:

1) Pound the ball into the ground, resulting in an insane number of GIDP's.
2) Look at called third strikes
3) Swing at balls 2+ feet out of the zone
4) Not hit HRs

Good win yesterday but the team is painful to watch on offense.

I have noticed a more fun/lively dugout the last week or so. Martinez always seems to be involved. I found this Matheny quote interesting.........

It was all on show again Thursday as Martinez pitched the Cardinals to a 7-2 win, the fourth for St. Louis in as many starts for Martinez.

And apparently you have to listen to the 22-year-old, too, to get the full appreciation of his gregarious personality.

"He comes back in and he's saying all kinds of stuff, sounds like a rooster sometimes," manager Mike Matheny began to explain after the team's series win. "I haven't figured that one out yet. Whatever he's doing, guys are laughing, and they're smiling. That energy that you're talking about when you bring young guys up is contagious. And then he made a couple things happen, too.

"If you're just out here making all kinds of noise and not producing, that's a whole different animal. But he's doing a nice job making things happen on the mound and, today, at the plate."

Wonder if Ryan had been able to hit if the locker room would have turned on him like it did?

Horrible pitch sequence from Rosenthal against the second batter. Dumbasses in the booth are telling him to just throw nothing but fastballs. Meanwhile, every pitch the guy gets closer to squaring it until he finally does.

Bourjas should have been out there as a defensive replacement anyway. He would have caught it without an issue.

I'm happy Taveras is at least getting a hit a game. Matheny can't bench him. He just looks like he belongs here. Doesn't look over matched and just has that look like he id going to kill that next pitch.

Taveras on the bench. Why? He hits LHP just as well as RHP. We brought him up to make a difference in the offense.

First inning, men on first and 3rd, John Jay strikes out looking

2nd inning, bases ****ing loaded, Craig hits a weak grounder to 2B

OT hardly ever has bad AB's like these guys do on a regular basis.

There is some logic to sitting Taveras against a LHP, but doing so while Jay plays in the outfield is plum **** moronic, especially since Craig is playing 1st today.
