Discussion: Who should we consider for our first rd pick?

It’s that time fellas! Little over 3 weeks out and it’s in our house!

I’ll put 2 options here.

1. Who do we pick if we sign a vet WR (Hopkins?) before the draft.

2 who do we pick if we don’t sign anyone else before the draft.

Who ya got?

Not for me I'll take an AT Perry or Rashee Rice in the second/third round over Jalen Hyet in the first thank you.
"2nd round WR" all depends how you grade those guys...

I think Josh Downs is a 1st round WR, not everyone does.

Idk. Seems like their actions so far are showing their belief in them. We’ll see on draft day
If their lack of action at WR (because that's what it is, they've literally done nothing at WR) shows their belief in Moore and Toney, then what does it say about tackle that they immediately waded into free agency and spent $80M on an ascending, athletic player?

Exactly. It's a double standard.

Like they've wasted 9 top 30 visits with DB's, or another half dozen with guys that won't even picked in the 2nd round, let alone the first. Or like they wasted visits last year when they didn't even interview one of their 1st round picks, a guy they ended up trading up to get.

You obviously don't understand what pre-draft visits actually mean.

If you know what you need to know it's not needed, like this Josh Downs has no visits thing, Downs is an incredibly polished clean prospect that interviewed well..the teams know exactly what they need to know so what does an interview do for him?

It's why you see so many guys that are day 3 picks get visits, less known about them.

These guys?

Wanye Morris, Oklahoma
Tyler Steen, Alabama
Anthony Bradford, LSU
Broderick Jones, Georgia
Darnell Wright, Tennessee
Jordan McFadden, Clemson
Trevor Reid, Louisville
Jake Witt, Northern Michigan
Anton Harrison, Oklahoma

Two of those guys are known LTs and going in the first round. Steen is pretty much going to be a guard and Morris and Wright are RTs. The rest are late round prospects.

EXACTLY!!..it's just common sense. Rookie receivers aren't a factor in Reid's offense but you can easily plug in Harisson, Jones or Wright and get instant contributions which is the smart thing to do. If a Jamar Chase falls to us then of course you take him over a tackle but none of the late 1st round WR's are that better than the second round guys imo.

This is frankly stupid, the Chiefs just spent 80 million dollars for a LT and have a 3rd round pick they've wanted to give the RT job to for 2 years now.

The fact that they started Wylie at RT for a year and a half should tell you they don't think they need a bunch of highly drafted OTs.

You're completely forgetting that we have one real DT under contract and we're extremely thin at DE. This team can also always use more DB's as well.

There's nothing about this that is a "no brainer", certainly not taking a ****ing offensive tackle in the first.

You can't say guys are guards until they actually play there. Also Wright played a whole season at LT and Bergeron is an LT too.

They're fine with Toney and Moore being the starters but they're not fine with the LT they just gave an $80M contract or that Niang can play RT.

The double standards are palpable but expected.

The worst part of this forum is that about 60% of it still thinks that you should just take an offensive lineman in the 1st round every year.

WHY THE **** IS THIS FANBASE OBSESSED WITH OFFENSIVE LINEMAN!

I don’t think the Chiefs would trade up for a RT, even as tempting as it would be for Darnell Wright. If Anton Harrison is there at 31 I think he’s entirely in the conversation for BPA.

I do think if one of Darnell Wright, Quinten Johnston or Anton Harrison is available, they take them. The buzz seems genuine and they appear to really value them.

It just depends how it falls. DL is still the big value there due to the awesome supply.

I’m starting to believe that if they do trade up it would be for Quinten Johnston. He’s different than the other WR’s in the first rd and more pro ready IMO.

Advanced stats are not very favorable to QJ..
