It's slightly surprised me too. I can handle rooting for this version of Smith. Minimal turnovers, running for first downs to keep drives alive, and feed the ball to Maclin and Kelce. I expect a good year next year from him and 30 TDs.

I could see 30 TD's, maybe combination of 27 passing 3 rushing. But, damn if I'm not super happy with Smith.

Nice thing about Reid is that Alex will have now played in the same offense for 4 years!

Did you ever stop to think that Big Ben and Brady have been to so many SB's not just bc they are franchise QB's, but bc their franchise is consistently one of the best from a coaching and personnel standpoint?

Stanzi, Cassel, Quinn, palko. The nation was laughing at your qb situation, now Chiefs have votes for the Super Bowl. Hmm I wonder

With the rise of the spread offense in college, the decline of the PPP, and the lack of overall, NFL-ready talent, these rankings mean less than shit.

The position, much like the league itself, has become a bag of suck.

How much of that success can really be attributed to Alex? He arrived in tow with a great, tenured coach and a GM who clearly "gets it".

The lack of turnovers help the cause overall, but you'd best hope the roster stays healthy all the way to the end.

Okay insert past qbs with Andy, I highly doubt it'd be the same. Yiu hear his teammates and coaches talk about him..

Every successful team has solid coaching and players, just give Alex his due. He's a good qb not great or elite.

The Patriots and Steelers have been/are consistently in the mix because of all 3 factors, coaching, personnel and franchise QB.

Take away the franchise QB, and you get the Ravens from the early 2000s, who won a SB with a mediocre QB, and eventually fired a pretty good HC because they lacked consistency, even though they consistently fielded a top level defense.

Teammates talking isn't really an indication of anything. Brandon Marshall just endorsed Ryan Fitzpatrick and he's a bum. Tony Gonzalez endorsed Tyler Thigpen and he was trash.

Alex is a good QB though. He just has all the tools to be better. He needs to stop being scared and realize his full potential.

You're thinking of Brad Johnson, not Rob Johnson.

Coincidentally, however, Rob Johnson was Brad Johnson's backup on that 2002 Buccaneers team. So he did win a ring, just not the way you're thinking.

This. Don't know why he has to be elite to get respect from some here. Would you take Brady if he was available over Smith? Sure, but he's not. Plug your favorite QB name(s) in place of Brady's all you want... doesn't change the fact that Smith is a good, solid QB that has been playing good football. That's it. He's in the top 100. Glad to see him there... glad he has earned the respect of his peers as he has his coaches before them. I hope that he, and the Chiefs, have an even more successful 2016.
