Ok. So when the Lions tampered with Chiefs players all they lost was a 7th rounder and a swap of 5ths. Chiefs should have a good chance of getting this reduced on appeal.

If someone tampers with a 3rd string tackle versus a #1 receiver, penalties can't be the same.

Just like if you get caught selling a few grams of coke versus being busted with a kilo, the penalty will be much different even though both are illegal acts of selling drugs.

I don't buy that. Granted they ended up not landing him in the end, but Lance Briggs wasn't exactly a C list player.

If 2008 Lance Briggs is worth a 5th round pick, then Jeremy Maclin isn't worth a 3rd/6th. Why does the NFL have to force their opinion into all this shit. So the extent of the penalty is based on some NFL exec's opinion about how good that player is? Silly.
