That's like saying bad productivity is all on employees so stop blaming the managers. This isn't strato-matic. Players are coached, guided and corrected on a daily basis.

I agree it's hard to parse the difference, but when you have supposedly the most talented minor league system in the last 20 years, and they're almost all underperforming - it's completely justified to look at coaching.

Sure and that's more on player development and other coaches at other levels, not the MLB manager. It's also on over-valuing talent at lower levels which the Royals clearly have done. An MLB manager should have player ready players at the MLB level. If they aren't, they shouldn't be there.

And he should also help take them to the next level and make sure their skills don't erode - usually indirectly through position coaches. I don't subscribe to the stat nerd myth that players arrive at the big leagues as complete packages who don't need any more coaching.

I don't either so blame the hitting/pitching coaches more than the guy making the everyday lineup decisions. But generally, good teams win with players who come up and are ready to play at this level. KC doesn't seem to do that. That's a franchise problem, not Ned Yost.

What it comes down to is, if I'm the manager and I want him to take I put the ****ing take sign on, whether the hitter wants to take or not.
