7/30/2010: Signed a six-year, $78 million contract. The deal contains $50 million guaranteed, including his base salaries in years one through four, a $2.88 million first-year roster bonus, and a second-year "signing" bonus of $17.974 million. Another $8 million is available through incentives based on playoff, Super Bowl, and Pro Bowl appearances. 2013: $9 million, 2014: $14.015 million, 2015: $12.985 million, 2016: Free Agent
Sam Bradfords contract. If he is worth that risk with all that money after missing a whole year due to a shoulder injury, surely Geno is worth less than half that risk, no question. |

This stuff would only happen to the Chiefs.
We get the #1 pick for the first time ever, we're terribly QB-poor, and we do this the only year there's no QB worth going in the top 10, let alone #1 We do this in a year the stars align and none of the QB poor teams like any of the potential draftees so trading down isn't possible. We do this in a year our best lineman decides to become a primadonna and refuses to play where the coaching staff wants him to, more or less opening another hole at a premium position, one where there really isn't a #1 overall in the draft, either. We're going to end up taking a tackle who'd be a middle first round pick most years, or a QB who'd be a second round pick most years. This would only happen to the Chiefs. |

Bills, Cards, Raiders show little faith in QB draft class
By Marc Sessler Around the League Writer Published: March 30, 2013 at 10:28 p.m. Updated: March 30, 2013 at 11:04 p.m. It didn't take long to find out what this year's quarterback-needy teams really feel about this year's passing prospects. One by one, the Buffalo Bills, Oakland Raiders and Arizona Cardinals have shown their hands, pushing for veteran help under center -- almost desperately -- as next month's draft approaches. 1. The Bills have handed Kevin Kolb a two-year contract worth $12-$13 million, according to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport. Nothing new for a guy who's already netted roughly $35 million in just 21 starts over six seasons. That includes $21 million-plus for 14 scattershot performances with the Arizona Cardinals. His newest contract suggests the Bills see Kolb as their starter over Tarvaris Jackson and whoever else they bring into the fold. Buffalo -- sitting pretty at No. 8 -- will add someone in the draft, but you don't pay Kolb that money to sit. 2. The Raiders -- with the third-overall pick -- think little enough of Terrelle Pryor and his single NFL start to enter into trade negotiations with the Seattle Seahawks for Matt Flynn, who -- like Kolb -- has accomplished little in the NFL. Flynn's two career starts were head-turning, but we know nothing about him as a leading man. Still, Oakland is on deck to swap multiple draft picks for make him their guy. Sound like a team about to take Geno Smith at No. 3? Nope. 3. The Cardinals are a beguiling piece of the puzzle. Weeks after dumping Kolb, reports have them buzzing around Carson Palmer, who the Raiders have essentially given up on. Logic states that if any of the teams mentioned here have dumped a quarterback, the others shouldn't even whisper his name -- but that's exactly what's happening. Understandably, fans of these teams are melting, because taking on another squad's pounding headache rarely works. Last year, the Indianapolis Colts and Washington Redskins coasted into the draft with confidence. Their shining knights -- Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III -- stood waiting. No such luck this year, and the Bills, Raiders and Cards have telegraphed -- loud and clear -- what NFL teams think of this draft class at the quarterback position. |

If they DO draft a QB that becomes a Franchise Savior, it'll be pure luck. No one, and I mean NO ONE, sends away two draft choices and $17 million dollars as a backup plan, then chooses that same position #1 overall. |

His source is sayig they see Alex as a stopgap and that they really like Geno in the long term. That they traded for Alex to stabilize things and that the deal was done weeks before the combine. |

I hope you can understand that. And as far as I know, they haven't even had him in for a workout, let alone, drafted him yet. Chill. |

He is the only prospect they will have 2 days with and one of only two (Milliner is the other) that will have their visit at Arrowhead. Another interesting twist to that is the Chiefs start offseason conditioning the same day they have Geno there for a workout. |
