Pyromania was the first vinyl album I purchased with my "own" money. Played the shit out of that record.
Dane is right in saying they turned into a pop band, and it pretty much started with that album. There are some nice riffy harder songs on there, but the foundation was laid down for what they would become with Pyromania. |

Godsmack gets panned by a bunch of people, here and in real life, but they are a great live band. Their music is made for the live audience.

Hey fellow drummers.
Don't forget who influenced all these guys, Buddy Rich and Gene Krupa. If you like Weckl, Vinnie and Gadd watch this. |

But they almost sound like a completely different band if you listen to their early works versus anything from Hysteria. |

I like Rush but it's funny how many Rush fans think Peart is hands down better than Buddy Rich.

And no, I didn't go to St. Pius High School, so I wasn't allowed in Tiger's Records. |

Man, I LOVED Tiger's Records, mainly because I could buy anything for $4.99 whereas the same record was $7.99 at Peaches. So it was no surprise when "Tiger" was found dead in the trunk of his Cadillac. |

No, it had absolutely nothing to do with that.
As a matter of fact, the drums were the last thing "recorded" for that album because each song went through so many changes. And it wasn't a drummer, it was a programmed drum machine. Linn 9000. |

Ministry changed genres completely, so I'll give you that. They were just the first comparison that sprang to mind.
You do have to admit DL's early sound is nothing like their current sound, though. (Speaking of, I've heard that when DL plays in America, they stick close to their pop sounding hits, but when they play in Britain, they play a ton of their older, heavier songs. Kind of sucks since their early stuff is what interested me, although I'm sure they and their bank accounts are just fine with it) |

The comparison that comes to mind for me is Green Day. I'm sure that's not a perfect comparison either, but there's quite a bit of difference between Green Day 93 and Green Day 2K. Or maybe between My Chemical Romance's early stuff and their Black Parade and later stuff.
