Clark Hunt Statement

"I have a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for Romeo, both personally and professionally," Chiefs Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt said. "He is an accomplished coach, a man of great character and he helped guide our football team through some extremely challenging circumstances this season.

"However, I am embarrassed by the poor product we gave our fans this season, and I believe we have no choice but to move the franchise in a different direction. I will immediately begin the search for the next head coach of the Chiefs. The entire football operation will remain under review, and there may be additional changes to come. No final determination has been made at this point on the future of General Manager Scott Pioli.

"Finally, I want to personally apologize to our fans for our performance this season. We are blessed to play for some of the best and most passionate fans in the National Football League and they deserve better than what we gave them this season. I want our fans to know that I will do everything I can to provide them with a dramatically better team - both next season and in the seasons to come - and our entire organization appreciates their support."

Feel free. I would use it myself, but Don Draper is just a tad cooler than Lando in my book. Just a tad.

1. If we threw the bank at him with the power he'll have, what chances exist that we could lure him to the NFL?

2. Do you think he'd be a good NFL coach?
I don't see him leaving ND for the NFL anytime soon. He's stated before that ND is his dream job.

I think he's a better college coach than an NFL coach.

What if?

What if its Holmgren GM, Reid HC?

Defcon 5 meltdown?

Or could they reform and renew the old west coast magic together, i've argued against reid time and again, but if he's so damned determined to be a pro coach at all costs... why not here, i sound crazy to myself advocating for this feverish fanatic.

But if he wants to burn in attempting to get his ring, the ring that you just know drives him every day, why not take the chance on driven fanatic?

Holmgren... did absolutely NOTHING of note in cleveland, its impossible to make a current case for him, but i certainly do remember the quarterback specific HC who managed to corral and elevate a young talent into being a good player by being a micromanaging, up your ass on every play dictator.

Just food for thought, its a heady time, ripe with possibilities, tear it apart or think about it as you will...

I appreciate this statement from Clark. I appreciate his recognizing that Pioli was out of control. Realigning the struture of the Chiefs to create a positive environment allowing us to possibly get the top coaches in the NFL. But.........

He should have spoke up during the season. He should have voiced the same feelings he talked about in the press release. Other owners spoke out about their poor performance, he remained silent. He lives in Dallas. All it did was enforce the feeling that he was an out of town and touch owner.

He gets no more breaks from me. His Dad despite staying with Steadman for way too many years at least cared. Clark needs to show me more or the next time we suck, we need to go after him, embarrass him in front of his friends. The gloves are off.

And WTF was this "some" of the best fans in the NFL. Every team declares they have the best fans in the NFL. Whats up with that Clark? Is that some kind of shot?

After 10 years with a team, Andy Reid had a lot of players get old on that defense and leave over years. (Dawkins, Vincent, Trotter, Douglas, Mike Mamula (kidding), etc) and just lost touch

Better Mustache, don't forget.

Jfc.

Holmgren has coached three hall of fame qbs. Took two different teams to a super bowl. Took a third team to a super bowl win as an offensive coordinator. And was a winner almost every year he's been a coach. He isn't a good gm. Guess what, shanahan failed in this role too.

But by all means. Let's throw this guy out because he was an okay general manager. Even though, by the way, the browns were a very competitive team this year despite their record.

I wonder if Reid takes the job if he'll actually run the ball with Charles or insist on throwing the ball 80 times regardless of whether or not the run game is working

So what exactly are you saying?

"he's a ****ing terrible GM, but oh by the way, the browns were better than advertised nonetheless"

I threw it out because he and Reid are two guys who know each other extremely well, come from the same philosphy and could probably work together very well.

Save the "JFC" and quit grandstanding, its not such an AWFUL idea.

Don't mistake what Reid is. He uses a lot of pass plays that are practically run plays. The offense is a very good fit for Charles. Charles will get less carries, but he'd get a ton of receptions.

I am not saying jfc about Reid. I am talking about the ridiculous idea that his tenure as gm reflects on his ability to coach. But if you want to bring up his record as gm, it's not the disaster people want to pretend it was. The browns were a talented team that was competitive in pretty much every game to begin this season.
