Both, really. Operative is by far the most cried-about class (kind of like Warlock was at one time in WoW) but I assume you're a sniper?

Yeah, i'm a sniper. He's got a nice set of skills that increase survivability in PVP.

If I ever roll an alt, it'll probably be a Vanguard tank or a Commando healer. I love how their companions look and I love the pew pew pew effects whenever I'm grouped with one. They also seem like they can do pretty much anything they want and walk away dusting their right shoulder off.

To all the MMO noobs - when you're making death runs (for datacrons and such), make sure you take off all your equipment with durability.

I only have one datacron. I've noticed a few of them in locations I couldn't reach, but said eff it, i'll go back later. Are they worth picking up, what do they do?

I would guess most of the "OP" stuff is coming from the pvp subset of players. My perspective may change once I get them all into the 40s, but I've played gunslinger/sage/sentinel/commando, and from a purely solo pve perspective, none of them are really any weaker than the others. They just all do different things well, and in a lot of ways you have to play them differently to really succeed. It's actually kind of amazed me just how well my sentinel has worked out solo, after hearing how awful and difficult the class is. Ironically, for me the gunslinger, the one that does by far the most damage, is usually the most challenging to play. While there isn't a whole lot (so far) that I can't handle, on the other hand if I'm not on the ball, ridiculously easy things can kill me, and it certainly requires the most downtime in terms of post-fight recovery.
The one class I'll probably never touch is guardian/juggarnaut. That one just screams "boring" to me. |

They give you permanent stat boosts and let you create some pretty uber relics. I'm an OCD completionist whore so I don't consider a planet done until all quests (including bonus) are done and all datacrons are gathered.

I've gotten most of them so far except the one in the power plant on Taris that requires two people and the +10 ones in the fleet which you have to be 50 to get, and which I will probably never be able to do since it requires coordinating 4 people.

For your guild, are you on the Space Slug server. If so you should ally with the 53. That way you don't have to merge and yet you can still get groups going. If you're imperial, let me know, and I will get my guild to ally with you. |

My problem with balance is a purely numbers one and it's the same whether it's pvp or pve: there are too many imperials and there are too many inquisitors. There's not even a hint of balance between the two factions. But I think we all knew that coming in and there's not really anything bioware can do about it. All the sociopathic cool kids were always going to play empire because they can shoot things with lightning and play out all their repressed dark fantasies. And the republic basically only appeals to the equally sociopathic roleplayers who want to live out their luke skywalker fantasies. |
