I think a change of scenery would be good for both the R's and these two guys. They're going nowhere with this Organization. Collins could be replaced by Lamb, and Crow could be replaced by a number of players. His decrease in velocity has made him very hit-able, and very replaceable.

At this point, the only way we pick up Butler's option is if he homers almost every remaining playoff game, bats 1.500+ OPS for the last two series and basically carries us to a championship.

Not saying we should do it in that situation, but I think the Royals would at that point.

Historically, Lorenzo Cain had the 223rd highest defensive WAR season ever in 2014, the 196th highest defensive WAR season ever in 2013. EVER.

Not sure how accurate defensive WAR is outside of the last few years, but that is impressive. This is taking into account players playing all the way back since the late 1800s. Combine that with the fact that he has typically had less playing time than other full time players in those seasons, even more impressive.

2014 Alex Gordon was 287th best defensive WAR season ever, which is his highest yet.

How about Dysons def WAR in less than half playing time? We don't need a new OF next year. What we needed all along was Butler-Hoz-Moose to hit and when they finally did the last week, we were pretty stout

I think it's more than just a DH. Most teams even in the AL ar DH'ing by committee now.

Because the AL teams employ an extra hitter who sometimes is David Ortiz which is a ridiculous advantage when playing NL teams at AL parks. One team gets to hit Ortiz. The other team gets to DH their 4th outfielder.

As soon as the game ended I turned to someone and said, "Well, the Royals get home field advantage for the World Series." We both laughed thinking it was a joke.
