I still give this game like a 93/100 rating, but jeez, fix my combat FFS!

It's been surprisingly smooth for a typical MMO launch.

The green bars thing is annoying, but for whatever reason I haven't seen nearly as much of that lately. I don't know if it's something they patched or if it's the worlds I'm on right now (primarily Voss atm). The node thing has been markedly better for the last two patches. It still happens occasionally, but it's gone from "all the time," which is was at launch, to "rarely", at least in my experience. My main problem right now is that I'm drastically outleveling my (small) guild. I'm the only guy over 40, and half of them aren't even in their 30s yet. So I haven't done any grouping of any kind since the week the game launched. Eventually I guess I'm going to have to bite the bullet and start doing pugs, although that's about my least favorite thing in the world to do. |

The combat, being so ****ing twitchy with cooldowns, procs and Zen as it already is for us (which I enjoy) needs to be 100 crisp, IMO. Last I heard BioWare is working on improving the desynchronization in the game (which is felt to a much greater extent by melee). I'm not trading my Sentinel for anything, but a crisper combat would be most welcome.

I am experiencing a weird bug that quite a few people have encountered. When I go into chat, it won't post my messages in general/party/guild chat. I type the message and hit enter and.......nothing. I reported the bug but last time I played a couple days ago it wasn't fixed.

I haven't had any of that occur on my sentinel, and I have played him a pretty fair bit. He was actually my first character.
I actually haven't had any combat animation problems on any of my characters so far, although I've read plenty about the problems people report having. The impression I get is that a few people are being very vocal about the problems they're having while a lot of the rest us just aren't experiencing it. No idea what the causes could be but I'm sure they are working on it. The only gameplay problems of any kind I've had the entire month, at least as far as I can recall, all took place on Taris, and involved me getting locked into combat with mobs nowhere near me, so I had to wait until it finally stopped so I could do basically anything but stand around. Couldn't get on my speeder, couldn't map, couldn't sit and heal. Not a problem on my sage obviously, but it was an issue on my gunslinger and sentinel. Annoyed me slightly, but in reality I think it happened a total of 4 times over the course of 3 days played on that world. I tend to avoid Taris now, though. My nearly 20 trooper is there, and I've been sort of avoiding playing her I think. I like the world and the story, but it's the one place in the game that strikes me as being buggy (and I hear it's even worse on the imperial side). Anyway, I have to be in the hundreds and hundreds of hours played now, in the live game. No complaints so far. The great majority of the issues I've seen are of the graphical variety, ie the green lines you mention, or weird things in cutscenes. Nothing that phases me in the slightest. I keep waiting for something to happen, the other shoe to drop as it were, but so far nothing. |

I never experienced the out of combat "in combat" state nor the chat bug and I hope I never do.

Hey, AndChiefs, I'm thinking really hard about switching to Watchman for that 6 second CD on kick, 0 range and lower CD on Force Leap. But man, I really love my massive Blade Storm auto crits.

In retrospect, I might not even notice anything happening with force kick. At least the animation. In a fight that would necessitate interrupts, I think I tend to focus (my eyes, that is) more on the area of the toolbars than the mobs themselves, but, on the other hand, if the skill failed to interrupt, I would notice that, and that just hasn't happened for me, at least not so far. I do fight a lot of elites solo, and I obviously don't have a healer yet (I didn't bother with the ship bot) so I gotta be pretty on-the-ball as far as the interrupts go or I'm deader than dead.
The thing with force leap I'd obviously see right away, but nothing so far. After playing through with my Sage and to a degree my Gunslinger, I have a feeling the Sentinel is going to begin to be very challenging post-Hoth. The elites and champions seem to do a lot more skill-wise, and they seem to do it faster than the cooldowns on my interrupts, meaning I have to prioritize what skills I'm interrupting (i.e. make sure you're interrupting a robot's barrage instead of his ion charge). Not sure how I'm going to handle that when the Sentinel gets to that point. Although maybe by then he'll have his healer and my play style will have migrated away from the "Kill asap" approach I currently have with Kira. I think it'll actually help keep the game interesting, as long as it doesn't become challenging to the point of logging off. |
