Branden Albert trade won’t happen unless he lowers his price

Branden Albert trade won’t happen unless he lowers his price

Branden Albert AP

The much-discussed potential trade of Branden Albert from the Chiefs to the Dolphins doesn’t appear likely at the price Albert is currently seeking.

Although the Chiefs and Dolphins can probably agree on compensation — the Dolphins sending a second-round pick to Kansas City — the hangup is that Albert wants the kind of money that the Dolphins aren’t willing to spend. Specifically, according to Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports, Albert wants between $8 million and $9 million a year on a long-term deal.

In other words, Albert is looking for the same kind of contract that left tackle Jake Long got from the Rams — the very contract the Dolphins wouldn’t give Long, which is why he left Miami for St. Louis.

If the Dolphins weren’t willing to pay Long that kind of money, it’s hard to see why they’d be willing to give up a second-round draft pick for the privilege of paying Albert that kind of money. So the Dolphins may need to look elsewhere for a left tackle. And Albert may have to settle for playing this season for the Chiefs, making $9.8 million, and hitting free agency next year.

Joeckel and Fisher will be better than him IMO.

Their doing alot of Neuro studies at KU med right now that are really awesome and interesting. If you guys ever have free time and want to wade thru some intense medical stuff, it's a good read.

I woudln't be surprised if within the next few years, it won't take to 3 concussions to end a guys career. I think it will be a 1 and done thing.

Day 1? With what we are doing and the way things are going, he needs to be.

Like I've said, for this to be successful, whoever we take needs to be a Top 10sh guy from the start.

Fair enough.

But even still, have you watched his games? Shit, in the NO game you people love to cite so fondly, he took numerous head shots, including one by Roman Harper on their 1st drive that I thought would have KO'd most QBs.

Alex has endured some serious head trauma throughout his career. I like the guy and hope he doesn't have any more problems.

You said in another thread that you were doing your residency. Do you go to KU med?

It worries me that he got his ass knocked off behind that OL, cause we ain't got none of that here yet.

But, I do like that Reid has the history he does with QB's.

I'm alot higher than most (was actually convinced to look more into it by DJ's, so thanks for that) here on Alex Smith in Reids system. But concussion history scares the hell out of me, especially in a QB.

That scares the crap out of me. If he's gotten his brain rattled around that much already, he's probably going to have it happen to him again.

God, I want Geno even more now. As a freakin' safety measure.

Hell naw. KU med is extremely hard to get in to. But no, I'm a Dental Student.

I'm looking at doing a Prosthodontic residency.

Props to MD's, but it just wasn't for me. I had an interest in doing an Oral Maxillofacial residency and I like doing OS, but not every day and I'm not up for 6 years of school post the 8 years of college/dental school time i've put in. It would be cool to have the MD DDS tag to supply to my ego and to be a badass, but I love the variety of dentistry.

I don't think Albert's injury prone. He's playing a collision sport for ****'s sake. Injuries happen. He's usually out there for us.

The back injury due to the weight fluctuation is scary especially for an OL.

The first two years are awful. Really awful. I think we do 96 hours in 4 semesters. I wouldn't do it again.

But 3rd and 4th year are alot better. We still have about 20 hour per, but most of that is clinical time with pts.
