I have a difficult time believing the Netflix valuation of $100 billion but even if it's half of that, it's also difficult for me to see Disney making that play.

They're a streaming service and while they're dabbling in content, it doesn't make much sense for Disney, which currently airs Disney Junior, Disney Channel, Disney XD, ABC Family channel, ESPN and ABC to purchase yet another avenue.

Although when talking about Disney, I suppose anything is possible but that's a big number.

Simon Kinberg revealed today that he's writing an Anthology film. That brings us to four, including Rogue One, Han Solo and Trank's film.

After the poor reviews of Fantastic Four, it's a good thing LucasFilm dumped him.

Well, whose to blame on that. The F4 franchise is like syphilis. Sure, it's proof you landed a comic book movie to direct, but you aren't going to go around bragging about that.

That property has been a rudderless ship full of leaks. Even after knowing they needed to reboot it, no real thought went into it. A sloppily rushed movie to fill an August release date.

It was pushed from November 2014 to March 2015 to August 2015. It got to a point where no pick up shoots or VFX could hide a bad movie, despite a very good cast.

All of that lies directly in the lap of the director, as he's the visionary of the film. Once again, I'm glad to hear that LucasFilm parted ways with him.

I agree with you on almost all of this. I just won't let the studio walk away as if they have clean hands.

They're aware of what was needed for a franchise that already needed a reboot and has some shortcomings as is when trying to make it work in a live action film.

I really enjoyed Chronicle , but this is a whole other animal and the basis has to start with a quality script. Trank maybe isn't the guy who saves a mediocre story on the page and is able to spin cinematic magic.
I'm not completely down on him to write him off just yet.

How different would things have been for a certain director if his version of Jaws was released instead of Verna's masterpiece.
