Clark Hunt Statement

"I have a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for Romeo, both personally and professionally," Chiefs Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt said. "He is an accomplished coach, a man of great character and he helped guide our football team through some extremely challenging circumstances this season.

"However, I am embarrassed by the poor product we gave our fans this season, and I believe we have no choice but to move the franchise in a different direction. I will immediately begin the search for the next head coach of the Chiefs. The entire football operation will remain under review, and there may be additional changes to come. No final determination has been made at this point on the future of General Manager Scott Pioli.

"Finally, I want to personally apologize to our fans for our performance this season. We are blessed to play for some of the best and most passionate fans in the National Football League and they deserve better than what we gave them this season. I want our fans to know that I will do everything I can to provide them with a dramatically better team - both next season and in the seasons to come - and our entire organization appreciates their support."

I don't think Shannahan is ready to be a head coach. Babb made it sound like Shannahan doesn't care about attention to details.

I JUST WISH Peyton would have went ANYWHERE but Denver. That was a truly tough day in my life. Not only do I hate Denver, but I know that wherever Peyton is, that team is going to win that division 9 times out of 10. Sucks for us!

I agree, great things always come along...but will we EVER see another artist like Peyton Manning or true competitor like Tom Brady.

I hope they both play until they are 43.
I liked it better when you and I disagreed on everything. I even like Kyle Shanahan.

Die in a fire, pizza boy. There...I feel clean again.

I'd say Manning in Denver actually really works against us when it comes to our head coaching search...you know, because of the aforementioned fact that as long as Peyton is playing we'll probably be fighting for, at best, the #5 or #6 seed every year.

We showed our wrath this year...we DEMAND a winner. We are handicapped because of the fact the ARGUABLY greatest ever is in our division...we may have to settle for a Cowher, Reid or Billick because KC could be career suicide if Geno fails and Manning plays another 3-5 years.

I love that he went to Denver.

There is no starker a contrast then watching him plunger **** Fat Scott. Had he gone to Arizona, the carnage would've been from afar.

Instead he went right down I-70 to our most hated rival and precisely because of Fat Scott. Clark got a front row seat for the results of ****head's megalomania.

Manning to the Donkeys is absolutely perfect. And yes, I hope they win the Super Bowl with him at the helm.

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

If we keep Pioli, I hope Ferentz is the hire.

Just give me more grist for the mill. Like I've said before - losing isn't good enough. With this asshole in charge, I want absolute carnage. I want the Chiefs to challenge 0-16 and lose every game by 14+ points. With Ferentz in house, I'm confident we can manage it.

I have never in my life despised any sports figure like I despise Scott Pioli. I want nothing but pain and anguish to follow that man. When Belcher killed himself, a small part of me took solace in the fact that at least it was one of Scott's boys and not someone like Flowers.

He's warped me on NFL football. All I care about when watching the NFL is the suffering of Scott Pioli and those that count him among their friends, associates or even people that they can stand to be in the same room as.

I ****ing hate that guy...

well it doesn't bode well for us the next 3-5 years, that's for sure.

That team is loaded with young talent. They are going to win at least 12 games every single year he is their starting QB until he retires.

That's something most Chiefs fans aren't looking at. He won 12+ games like 10 years in a row or something silly in Indianapolis.

Literally. We're ****ed. Hopefully Clark can pull a rabbit out of his hat and land a Kyle Shanahan. But I tell you what...if I'm a young stud coaching prospect and I see Peyton Manning as my chief rival and I have my choice of teams to coach...

The $$$$$ better do the speaking.

So yeah, we'll probably get a retread Cowher, which isn't the end of the world. I'd rather have a "moneyball" coach like a Chip Kelly who plays the numbers instead of punting on 4th and 1 because that's what happened in the 80s.

Belichick went for it on 4th and 6 in the 1st quarter against Miami when they were on the 20. They didn't pick it up, but my God, I just love the call.

I guess the Chiefs will actually have to be good to succeed, then.

When the Chiefs had a legitimate team, they were getting past John Elway in his prime to make the playoffs. If they put together another one, they can get past Peyton Manning in his decline years.

No more coasting off soft schedules - the Chiefs now have a rabbit to chase in Denver and they'd goddamn well better get to running if they hope to catch it. Competition will make them better, not worse.

Manning in Denver is a positive development for this franchise. They can either get up to speed or stand on the tracks as the train comes through - no more handcarts that only have to outrun the Tim Tebow express...

It's almost like people are surprised. I won a $100 bet with someone at work because I bet him Peyton Manning would start 12 games this season. He literally laughed in my face last year when we made that bet. He even offered me 8 games and I told him I'd stick with 12, and even go 16 if he wanted to up the ante.

I love Colin Cowherd. You know how he closed his show today? He closed it by saying Tony Romo is an ELITE NFL QB. He said he's not Peyton Manning, Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers...but that he is an ELITE NFL QB.

That is someone I can respect. Someone who can judge a player with his own eyes and not just jump to every conclusion because of a considered "choke" job. Romo was the heart and soul of that team and you put any QB on that team other than Romo and maybe 6 other NFL QB's and they would be almost as bad as our Chiefs.

This site hates Peyton Manning. It has never been objective about Peyton Manning.

I hate Peyton Manning being on Denver. Denver is my least favorite team. That is not stopping me from enjoying THE greatest player I've ever seen in my lifetime play football. I'm getting older, my favorite players retire over the years in various different sports. I grew up loving Ken Griffey Jr, Frank Thomas, Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen...I respected Brett Favre...I hate seeing these players retire.

It's not going to be long before we see the two best QB's of this generation retire so if anything, lets all cross our fingers for another great battle in the AFC Championship game between Brady and Manning. That's ALL I want to see. That's better than any Super Bowl matchup this year.
#1 - A lot of the knocks on Manning are a remnant of the knocks on Schottenheimer. If Marty is a shitty shitty pit of mediocrity, Peytie Pie has a bit of reckoning for years of abysmal playoff performances.

#2 - Romo will never sniff championship victory [remember, the ONLY metric that matters], Romo is Schottenhiemer^2.

I love the call, too.

The minute Denver signed Peyton I knew the chances of us getting a home playoff game again in the next few years was minuscule at best. Sucks.

True.

Once you embraced the suck, this season became fairly entertaining.
