l think people who have never been in constant pain can't understand. It's a unique situation.

Empathy is not my strong suit, but your judgement of me saying I lack ANY empathy is incorrect. You seem to be doing a lot of inferring tonight with me. Or do you constantly put your words in other people’s mouth. I do not judge. But, TP was/is one of my idols. Politically correct or not, it’s true. I was raised on Tom, as perhaps you were. I have empathy. But a little less than I did. No one wants to be an addict. No one wants to be in pain. But, it happens. Be careful with putting words in my mouth.

Fentanyl is a schedule II drug. Typical use should be in end stage cancer with patches and hospice supervision. Any provider, including myself, with a DEA license can prescribe it. I never even thought about prescribing it post extractions. Vicodin( hydrocodone) is what I would prescribe. 5,7.5,10 mg different formulations. Never wrote for Percocet. Oral Surgeons would prescribe Percocet. I was on staff at the two hospitals in my city.(heh?) Town. Fentanyl was a favorite of RNs and CRNAs. They would enter into the drug computer an applicable dose . They would give the patient about 1/3 of the vial and pocket the rest. Several times a day! One of my closest friends and poker buddy was a CRNA( google if you need the definition) was addicted. He used patches and injected between his toes. He got caught. 180 day rehab. Now he is just an alcoholic. Personally, I self prescribed. The pharmacy was across from my office, and to this day is still ankept secret pill-mill. True shit. I use Vicodin, Valium, and vodka daily. I’m an addict. Won’t touch fentanyl. Too easy to OD.

Haven’t tried to quit.
Of course it is not healthy.
But, it is fun.
I am retired as of Dec 31,2017.
Been using cocktail since 1991, when I graduated dental school.

That sounds bad. I guess I'm fortunate in that regard. I have a bottle of about 30 Percocet sitting on my end table right next to me that I haven't taken in about a month. Don't even want to take it. I will if I need to, but not for long enough to get addicted. After my hip replacement two years ago I only took the Oxycodone for 3 days. It didn't really help the pain all that much, and I didn't enjoy being in a daze all the time.

Take care of yourself man, this is the only life you have.
