Wait....that software is newer software that is something that CP might migrate towards in the future?

Eh, the "primitive" part is mainly that there hasn't been a lot of effort made to customize it. CP has had years to tweak vBulletin 3.8 to get it to where it is today. RoyalsPlanet might have a few hours of work into it, though it's technically on vBulletin 5.

  2. Hootie irritates a bunch of them by kind of running it with everyone's money with little input from others, losing half of their money in only the first couple weeks.
  3. Hootie got some sort of bonus on his own, separate, account and played "teams" (not sure if that's the right word) that were similar to the CP teams, which theoretically reduces the chance that the CP teams will be successful. This is a big no no since people had generally agreed that they wouldn't do that (even though the actual impact is relatively modest).
  4. Hootie gets kicked out and goes batshit crazy defending himself all over CP and eventually gets banned through some combination of irritating the **** out of everyone and breaking some arbitrary rule about "not talking about fight club."
  5. The rest of the crew continues the game and doesn't really do any better than Hootie did, and all of the money slowly dwindles down through the rest of the season.
That's pretty accurate. Nobody blamed Hootie for the group losing its money on Fanduel. Everybody knew going in that the $100 was really just an experiment to see what would happen if 50 guys threw in $100 each and had the brain trust of the group select 50 lineups. Anybody who thought there was even a .0001% chance of this thing paying off would have been an idiot. I threw in my $100 because I was curious to see how this whole thing would play out. At the time you couldn't listen to the radio for 30 seconds without bombarded by advertisements from Fanduel and Draft Kings.

People got pissed at Hootie because he blatantly violated the most important rule of the group, A RULE THAT HE INSISTED UPON AS THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE OF THE GROUP. When the group was formed, Hootie insisted that nobody, absolutely nobody, could take a lineup that the group made and submit that same lineup outside the group. He was ****ing adamant about it. The rest of us agreed, because if the group did mange to hit that .0001% chance, we didn't want half of the pot to go to one guy. But as soon as he got some extra picks, he decided to blatantly violate that rule, and he just couldn't understand why anyone would object.

Not understanding isn't a big deal. But he decided to go into full Hootie meltdown mode. If you've ever witnessed full Hootie meltdown mode, you know what I'm talking about. He turned what should have been a minor disagreement into a big enough deal that he got himself banned.

In his defense, it appears he got a bad rap on the fan duel matter. He never stole, he never played the CP lineups himself, he disclosed he was going to run some lineups on his own. Seems like people were mad at him for other things and used FD as a means to gather up support and run him out of town.
Exactly.

Yup. All he ever did was get under some people's skin. He should have been punished over the Fanduel thing, not banned.

Actually, the only thing I will add is that if Hootie is allowed back(something he has said he is not interested in until other people leave)I would ask of him to stop insulting the 40 some odd number of us that choose from jump street to not take sides and to stay out of it all together. To Hootie, that makes us cowards, pussies, spineless, scumbags, etc. He has referenced the group of us as these things many times since we did not come to his defense, even though I think most of us aren't quite sure of exactly what he was accused of that he is so upset about anyway(stealing money? breaking rules? I've lost track).

I think most of us just wanted to stay out of it and don't have anything personally for or against a guy I(we)only know from an anonymous message board. I would be fine with him being able to come back but I don't like being treated like I stood back and watched the guy's puppy get beat to death in the street just because I didn't defend him on a message board.

It worked and I replied. Next time write your response just above the "quote" portion so that it's not grouped in with my PM text.
