Top Video Game of all time...

I've been wanting to do this for a while now. Let's do a "Rainman type" poll or two.

Please suggest your ideas for the best game of all time. The news that we might finally get a new Red Dead Redemption game inspired me to do this.

In my opinion, RDR is probably it. However, that's not really fair. I absolutely love several other games but I don't know if I've ever played anything as much as RDR. Maybe Bloodborne or Witcher 3 but it's close.
I'll start us off with a few:

1. Red Dead Redemption
2. Witcher 3
3. Call of Duty; Modern Warfare (I did like the first 2)
4. Grand Theft Auto V
5. Bloodborne

There's a few to get us running. I'll give you guys a few days, maybe a week and we'll start voting.

Castlevania Symphony of the Night

I had not played it since 1998/99 but at the time I remember saying it was my fav game and I have not had one surpass it since.

This week I decided to play through again.. it has held up amazingly well and I can still say with confidence it is top 5 ever for me for sure.

Honorable mentions:

Mortal Kombat 2
Super Mario 3
Grand Theft Auto V
Contra

Just got Just Cause 3. Lot of fun. It's like GTA meets Spiderman.

No interest at all? You mother****ers disappoint me.

Side note: A discussion with a new co-worker led to me digging out my old copy of Final Fantasy VIII. I guess I'm old school gaming the month of February.

Since you didn't get much feedback, I'll offer the thought that came to my head. I think the average Lounge guy would have pretty narrow exposure to the wide world of video games and unlike music, candy and beautiful women, you can't just check stuff that you're less familiar with out really easily. The super popular games would probably get all the votes because they're the only ones a large number of people would have even played.

If you have a lot of guys like the ones who post in these video game threads (who seem to have played an amazing number of games), it would probably work well.

I completely agree. If it was dine here in the media section, I believe the results would be more authentic and fun, but it would get less exposure than the Lounge.

I put it in the Lounge, and Frogger may win the whole damn thing. That's no fun.

Oh well, there doesn't seem to be much interest anyways.

1. Elder Scrolls (Skyrim far and away the best)
2. Witcher 3
3. Fallout (I'll lump them all together, although I like New Vegas the best)
4. Mass Effect (2 was the best, the original was awesome, the ending of 3 made me want to punch somebody)
5. Fable series

From the old days, a couple of favorites are KOTOR and Freelancer.

It's not very often you hear someone claim New Vegas as their favorite Fallout game.

I like the storyline in that one the best, which is why I give it the nod over the others. Fallout 4 is awesome, but the main story sort of falls flat once you realize that the kid you're searching for is the asshole who runs the Institute. Especially when you replay it knowing that going in. Doing main story missions in Fallout 4 is the gameplay equivalent of doing household chores. Although the rest of the game more than makes up for it.

Hunting down the guy who shot you in the head and left you for dead, however, is always understandable.

Actually, I see a ton of people claiming New Vegas was their favorite. It's definitely right up there for me.

Yeah, I agree about 4. I've always thought the Fallout series was weak on main storylines in general. So, I nevee take them into consideration when comparing the games versuse each other.

I've always gone by the characters, the map, and the side missions. I'll take Fallout 3 over the others. Although I do love them all.

Yep. The main story is never as fun as the other stuff you can do.

I started playing NV again recently, but the combination of old game/new computer/lots of mods has made it really, really buggy.
