Tips on how to Speed, I wanna go fast.

I'm going to start going to Mayetta KS (just north of Topeka) once a week or so for some stuff. The highways there are pretty desolate, and going 90mph instead of 74 mph could lower my commute by almost a half an hour.

Any tips or scanners to use to avoid or locate the police using radar? With todays technologies & up to the minute information is it possible to significantly lower your risk of getting a ticket?

I usually drive like an old man, and whenever I do speed I get nailed. But then I see these people going 20 mph faster than me that never seem to get any tickets. Wondering if there is a trick I'm missing out on

So you're saying you averaged 92 mph for 6.5 hours straight and not stopping. You're just as big of a dumb ****ing liar as the other guy.

Wow at some of you people.
It is now illegal, a ticketed offense, to stay in the left lane in several states. The speed of any other driver is not your concern unless you are a police officer. Don't bitch about someone else breaking the law when you are doing the same thing.
You can generally add 10 MPH to the average MPH it took to make a trip. Stopping for fuel, bathrooms, eats which are all done in one stop when I am driving.

They usually flip and roll after catching a swale or pipe culvert ditch. Sometimes they walk away unscathed sometimes not. Its not pleasurable to see when working along highways.

Many times you see blowouts people doing the speed limit and they negotiate successfully to shoulder from the driving lane. They are usually doing the speed limit from the outside lane. Its definitely an eyeopener when your working off the edge of the pavement and you have this develop right on top of you.

Once again not scientific but through 35 years working along roadways.
Interesting... and I'm sure seeing it up close many times would change anyone's perspective. If you see a rare event far more than the average person, your perception will be that it happens far more than it actually does and that it poses a bigger risk than it actually does... not a bad thing in that you'll do more to prevent it than the average person, but us average folks aren't really going to be convinced otherwise until it happens to us or we witness it a few times.

In my experience, oblivious drivers and extremely impatient drivers cause more issues than speeders... and every once in a while the guy who's going 30mph+ faster than anyone else on the road.

You ever take 69 to 44 instead? When we went to Dallas over the winter that's how we went. Pretty sure we made it back to KC in about 7 hours leaving from Sherman with a couple stops.

We left early on a Sunday though.

Yes, 69 lengthens the trip in my experience. I've heard other people claim it's quicker though.

Yeah, my uncle the trucker said we were crazy to go that way, just seemed more direct than 35. But I'm sure the other way is a better drive due to the higher speed limit, smoother road, and not having to slow down through BFE Oklahoma towns.

It's definitely a more scenic drive, but it adds time.
