I liked the farscape actors, but Babylon hands down has a better story arc, the special effects were not as good considering it was made before farscape but babylon still wins out... |

"Crossroads" Part 1, great episode.
Just a thought...Lee has now pretty much lost everything...Wife, Career, Relationship with his Father, and his Best Friend. Interesting from a Joseph Campbell perspective on heroes, IMO. I'm thinking Tyrol's statement in the preview is a red herring. There's a significance to the music for sure, but I don't think that's it. As for the wait till Jan '08, does anyone know what's up with the two hour TV/DVD movie?

I haven't heard anything recently about the movie. They'd start production in the next month, I think, if it was going to happen (that's what I remember reading when the story originally broke, at least).
I don't think our odds for more than 13 episodes or a 5th season are very good, either, because the ratings have continued to plummet. It's a shame, because it's such a good show. I still think it has a double-stigma in the name it bears and the network it's on, which is seen as a male-only B-movie/horror channel that doesn't air anything worth watching. |

I can't believe ratings are going down. Everybody who watches this show loves it. I've personally got three people hooked on it who now watch it religiously.
The funny thing is that Universal and NBC are linked, and NBC is generally floundering in the ratings war against the other major networks. It seems they could put this show on NBC and in the process get it some decent advertising money and vastly expand the audience base, and in the process create a win/win situation for everybody involved. But that would make too much sense, apparently. I guess that's what we should expect from the network that killed the original Star Trek. fucking idiots. |

It's ironic. They sell the hell out of Heroes on SciFi, and air repeats, but I can't remember the last time I saw a BSG promo on NBC. Probably prior to the season 3 premeire when they used that Nickelback song. You'd think they'd try to cross-promote...
On the other hand, it kills in DVD sales, so maybe it's not in that much danger. I'm just glad we're getting a 4th season. Assuming they don't do what they did with Farscape (which was contracted for a 5th season, which SciFi then announced, and then later cancelled). |

Just my take;
I got interested halfway through season 2. Liked it well enough to go back and purchase season 1 so I wouldn't miss anything. This season has been a clusterf**k as far as I'm concerned. First, Starbuck's and Lee's romantic entanglement; now Baltar's imprisionment and trial, plus sideshows that did nothing to advance the plot. I can see why the ratings are plummeting. Bring back the Cylons dammit! I'm tired already of watching humans being human. And I wouldn't mind if Starbuck actually was permanently gone (although I know I won't be that lucky). Her bitch act was growing old too IMO.

Are they running out of ideas as well as cash? Who knows. But the last couple of episodes have been better. |

I chuckle every time an ad for the show brings up "the best show on TV" quote ... I doubt the TV critic that said that would still say it today. |

I think they put the romance out there partly to show those fans calling for it just how bad an idea it would be. Damn glad it's over though. As far as Kara being a Toaster? Maybe, Ron Moore said the next part of the series is all about blurring the line between Human and Cylon. Don't see her as a bad guy, though. Actions..not origins. I'd rather have 13 episodes the quality of the 1'st season and early second than 20 of questionable quality. That, and 4 seasons and a movie seems about right to wrap things up. Moore said he's got it in his head as "4 acts", and killing Kara started the third one.

Read that Sci Fi is producing a mini-series based on Neal Stephenson's "The Diamond Age". It is a fantastic book. George Clooney is producing it. I'd worry that he'd try to inject a bunch of left-wing moralizing that wasn't in the book, but Stephenson himself is writing the screenplay.

A question to you Sci-fyers.
In regards to the show, The Dresden Files on the SciFi Channel. Is this the second season or something? I don't recall seeing it before, and it is somewhat enjoyable, but I feel like I am missing out on important story structures.

Also, the romantic interest in the reporter lady seemed more established.

Sweet. I like Stephenson, but haven't read that one. How's it compare to Snow Crash (my favorite), Utopia, and Cryptonomnicon?
