I was wondering this. With all these high powered football geniuses, I hope at least one would be responsible for clock/timeout issues. Reportedly that is one of Reid's weaknesses. Also, what about a ST coordinator?

Sometimes shitty players make good coaches. They have accumen to teach but lack physical skills to play at a high level

Chilly could always be the WR coach or RB coach/ associate HC. He has a background there. But who knows.
He's probably still getting paid by the Browns so this could be a way of being a consultant with the team while still collecting a pay check from Cleveland. That's what Butch Davis did last year with the Bucs while he was still getting paid from his firing... |

Don't know what to think about this. QB coaches don't call the plays, what's his purpose?

Given the way coaching staffs get fleeced, I'm surprised more teams don't have as priority the development of more coordinators.
Maybe Chilly is good at coordinating an offense, but super good at training offensive coordinators. You almost have to count on guys moving up and taking opportunities, so having someone near the top (and getting paid like it) that can stick around longer term could soften the blow of guys getting hired away. Is Childress that guy? Who knows. Just a thought. |

True. Plus backups are essentially quasi coaches who spend their whole careers learning and helping to communicate things to the QB and the rest of the players.

Who gives a ****?
Pederson will be around longer than Childress would have at OC because invariably, he wants to be a head coach again, whether it's the NFL or a big time college program. His offenses didn't exactly set the world on fire in Cleveland, so I couldn't care less. |

The whole West Coast Offense "Tree" all the way back to Bill Walsh is littered with young up and coming OCs and QB coaches. If Pederson is the OC then maybe he'll be the next young mavrick to come along.

Are people really concerned that he wasn't a good player? Mike Singletary was a great player and terrible coach. The two things often have little to do with each other.

Well, it's not like Reid and Chilly will be turning a deaf ear to what's going on. They have both been QB coaches themselves. Mentor program. They got this.

Liken it to us wanting to draft and develop our own QB's. Let's be the ones to to give some young coaches the chance to start here and become innovative and dynamic, while having some veteran leadership watching over them so they don't totally collapse while doing it. Perfect combination if you ask me. Reid/Chilly/Pedersen/Nagy
