Basic column where Philip Rivers says he expects to play out contract & Tom Telesco declines to say he won't trade QB http://www.utsandiego.com/news/2015/...chargers-acee/

That said, I've been to games in New York, Denver, San Diego, Tampa and KC (of course) and I've never seen or had any problems. And the police most certainly didn't tell me to not go.

I went to an A's game in Oakland and all that I can recall is that the Coliseum is the nastiest, broke dick stadium I've ever seen. Calling it a shithole is actually a compliment.

Not sure how your question has any relevance to the idea that we would be a top 5 contender and have the best chance any Chief team has had since we had Montana.

Rivers began his career with Tomlinson and Antonio Gates, and a top 10 defense built by Marty. That's why it was the running joke every year when someone would call them the best team ever to not make the playoffs.

I will never, never forget the playoff game between Marty's Chargers and Herm's Jets. They were basically daring each other to win the game.

The stinkin' thing went to overtime and the Jets advanced. It was maybe the most awful playoff game of all time, or least in recent memory.

This is why I don't understand why anyone would want Rivers. He's been on enormously talented teams and has never been able to get them over the hump.

IMO, that says something very important.

You say Rivers can't get over the "hump" but in the previous post you refer to a divisional playoff loss vs. the Jets where Nate Kaeding missed all three of his attempted field goals, from 36, 57, and 40 yards; the Jets won the game 17-14.

I can forgive the 57 yarder but were the other 2 Rivers' fault? Those talented teams were destroyed by inept plays from Marlon McCree and Nate Kaeding in the playoffs.

I can understand a Chiefs fan's bias against a division rival's player, but most of the talk against Rivers is unfounded. He's prone to 2 or 3 meltdowns per year but never in the playoffs.

Thanks for proving my point.

An "Elite" quarterback would have no need for field goals. See Brady, Tom as an example.

A truly "Elite" QB puts a team on his shoulders, drives down the field for a win.

See Brady, Tom and Wilson, Russell for examples.

Philip Rivers is nothing more than a Madden Fantasy player. He's never won anything, he's never put his team on his back and won anything.

He's the Elder Matt Stafford. They're the same guy. Great for Fantasy points but he's paying for the Fantasy Suite on Super Bowl Sunday.

Ever hear of Adam Vinatieri? The "Tuck Rule" controversy led to a 45 yard field goal from Mr. Vinatieri in the final seconds to tie the game. He kicked another one in OT for the win.

Vinatieri was also helpful to Manning in his only SB winning season.

Rivers has done this many times. See last years game against the Whiners. The D shit the bed for most of the game, Rivers threw 3 INTs early but put the team on his back and won.

He's also on his way out in San Diego
