My post was in response to SG attacking David Beaty who hasn't even had the opportunity to coach a single game yet. Gary Pinkel is 14 years on the job and is competing with Eastern Illinois and Illinois State for players.

Pinkel isn't beating any SEC teams for recruits. In fact all the guys looking at Mizzou aren't even considered by the real football schools.

How was I attacking David Beaty? The guy is my hero. If I'd have know you could be an assistant WR coach for a team Bambi has bashed for three years and immediately land a HC job earning nearly $1,000,000 a year, I'd have thrown my resume in the ring. I used to play NCAA football on XBox until they stopped making the game. That might make me overqualified, but I would have likely got at least a phone interview.

He probably applied for the job as a dare when drinking because he thought it would be funny...kind of like when disgruntled KU fans posted the job on Craigslist. (Although looking at who they hired, maybe Zenger really did post that ad). Next thing he knows, he's head coach.

I say good for him. I'm sure he'll learn to emphasize the whole 'don't go Jeff Gilloly on our QB in the Spring Game' rule more clearly next year. You can't really fault Beaty for that kind of stuff. I mean, how in the hell is an Assistant WR coach supposed to know about that sort of stuff? He got where he is by properly taping Mike Evans's ankles, not by being in charge of things. That's for head coaches, assistant coaches, and coordinators to worry about...not position coaches, and especially not assistants of position coaches.

At least you don't have to worry about having your best player's head scrambled by your track again. I commend Beaty's leadership in having that dangerous eyesore removed. Kansas Athletics should count that as a victory on their website.
