You do realize that there's this thing called the internet and you can use it to look up things before you open your idiot mouth, right?

Go watch the AB, dickhead. The catcher was calling for the pitch low; he wanted it at/below the knees. Ziegler did miss his spot, yes - the pitch wasn't supposed to be in. But had the catcher not been calling for it at/below the knees, even when Ziegler yanked it and it curled through the zone, Heyward wouldn't have hit it with authority.

With a submariner on the mound, overthrowing is going to bring it inside, you absolutely have to be cognizant of where the ball will end up in the event the pitcher doesn't execute. Ziegler didn't, it went far. Had the catcher not been calling for a pitch at the knees, it wouldn't have mattered.

You remain a dipshit.

We need a pitcher than can eat up innings, not a Hamels. If we go for Hamels, they are going to want Reyes or Kaminsky. The cover is pretty damn bare in 2017. No reason to go there right now.

We need a #4 starter. You guys would know who would be a better fit than I would know. We could trade an outfielder, IMO thats Jay. And then what pitcher would need to be in that deal to get a #4 starter?
Kazmir; just depends on what the A's want for him.

Honestly, I'd be fine with Cooney/Lyons spot starting as needed to keep innings off Martinez/Wacha. Then in the post-season, Wacha/Lackey/Lynn/Martinez will be just fine. But if the A's would let Kazmir go for something reasonable, I'd bite.

I don't suspect he'll come cheap, though. Oakland will slap him with a QO so the value we surrender would have to be equal to the first rounder they'd give up by trading him. Our best bet at this point is to go after someone like Harang that would come cheaper, eat up some innings with him and keep our front-line guys fresh for October.

I think O.City is right - these guys have no idea what a pitcher's move is. It's why they're getting bad jumps on SB attempts and now getting picked off. I really feel like they need to spend time just watching pitchers movements. Maybe then they'll be able to recognize them and as such, get better jumps AND get picked off less.

You can't just tell your team 'go run, guys' and then neglect the intricacies that would help them be successful at it.

Not only that, but they're so predictable when they're going to run. Not that you can't still steal like that, but you've gotta be better than we are.

And martinez is filth. If reyes ends up ceilinging (just made that up) with Wacha and carlos, you've got three aces. Legit aces and I'm not sure but what carlos isn't going to be the best. I'll go to battle with those 3, and Gonzales and Kaminsky at the backend anyday

You just saw 2 ABs that explain why I just don't care how the Heyward trade works out - I'll never have a problem with trading Miller because that's the move that ensured Martinez would be a starter. It was the bite-collar that kept Matheny from putting Martinez in the 7th like he keeps trying to do. Mozeliak needed to take it out of Matheny's hands and that's exactly what he did. It was similar to when he traded away Craig and Boggs - when Matheny can't be trusted to use his better players in the right spot, Mozeliak has shown a willingness to clear the deck and give Matheny no other options. Heyward sucks now, but we forced Martinez into the rotation and that will pay massive dividends.

His changeup to get the lefty in Gonzalez was pure filth. To follow that up with that nasty putaway slider to the righty Kendrick shows just how varied the kid's arsenal is. Martinez has a true 3-pitch mix that could make him a premier #2 starter in this league.

If he can just keep his temper in check, he'll be a good one. Even as he ages and his fastball drops to the 92-93 mph range, he gets so much natural movement that he'll still be outstanding.

That was a big-league sequence right there. 2 men on, 1 out in a 2 run game and the opponents 2 best 'pure' hitters at the plate and he strikes them both out in completely different fashions. Very impressive stuff.

Agreed. He clearly won the spring training battle with Kelly. They had no choice this year with the Miller trade. You may be on to something with Mo's way of dealing with Matheny's stubbornness.

Matheny is old school. Martinez needs to calm down, then I'll let him start.

Agred. That was a top shelf performance today. 20 innings straight of shut out ball. 2 straight appearances into the 7 inning.

So apparently he's hitting at AAA, and I probably know the answer, but, how about a trade for Allen Craig?

So watching Sunday night baseball, seeing albert and freese in LA. I know the way the Pujols thing played out sucked and we've moved on, but I ****ing loved that guy in STL. He was a legend. I really wish he'd have stayed and been what he could have been.

He was so good for so long here too. I wonder if you got him to be honest what his feeling about leaving would be
