So, I didn't see a thread started, and all the others are pretty maxed out to the point where a fresh thread would be needed soon either way.

Time to share the run up to ST & and another memorable year in the making!

Gee is fine, but KC can do better on the free agent market

I was thinking that very thing. It's like watching Rustshack spam the KU basketball thread last year with post after post about his beloved Iowa State team. He eventually got banned from the thread.

I don't click on the Royals Repository to read about the White Sox. One or two posts would be fine, but it's getting ridiculous.

Toronto and Washington could both be landing spots. The Nats might be satisfied with their current bullpen situation (Storen and Clippard are good), but they do have some places where they match up with KC for Holland.

Toronto actually is not too gluttonous in the OF after trading Gose and likely losing Cabrera. Or were you referencing someone else?

He's a good fit for what KC needs. It wouldn't blow anyone away, but it would be a "winning" type of move, IMO.

He also has been a part-time player in the past, so you wouldn't have to worry about him getting frustrated by shuffling between RF/1B/DH. It also looks like he's a neutral RF, so that wouldn't hurt on days they played him there.

I was thinking Dodgers.

Here are Van Slyke's 14 HR's with the K overlay feature:

Van Slyke has a pretty nice split against LHP and isn't worthless against RHP either. I like him.

He wouldn't be enough back for Holland, though. The Dodgers would need to include more.

True, although his age and low salary are a major asset. He's under club control through 2020.

AJ Ellis would be a nice backup catcher to Salvy. He's terrible as a hitter, but good defensively.

Or prospects.

Steamer hates VanSlyke but everyone else seems to like him. Cheap and cost controlled makes him fair value for Holland - but given where we are at, we surely wouldn't do that deal.

Van Slyke is actually 28, though he's under team control for a long time.

Prospects would work, if Van Slyke is part of the deal. Wouldn't be bad to get one of their second tier pitching prospects as part of the deal.

On October 30th Bovada had the Royals as the 3rd favorites in the AL.

I'm not sure why the Flamingo had them as 2nd and at 12:1 instead of 16:1 on November 9th. But they did.

Not all sportsbooks are the same.

Hell, I got the Chiefs at 40:1 at the Flamingo while they were 22:1 at Caesars because Flamingo didn't update.

Steamer hates everyone, man. That's why I consider it largely worthless.

Van Slyke straight up is not fair value for two years of Greg Holland. Not nearly enough.

The value of an elite closer is somewhat topsy-turvy, but it's higher than a part-time player.

I actually prefer Gee over Santana. I think Gee is a perfect #3 for the Royals.

I'm to the point where I prefer just to keep all four of our relievers. **** it.

If Moose and Hosmer can't become .800 OPS bats then whatever. But we might as well just sign Santana and try and get a few platoon bats that can mash left handed pitching and go from there.

Upton is a damn pipe dream.
