Justice League on track to lose Warner Bros. 'between 50 and 100 million.
Justice League on track to lose Warner Bros. 'between 50 and 100 million
Justice League’s opening weekend at the box office should have called for a celebration. Considering Batman v Superman, Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman all opened to over $100 million (the former taking $160 million), you would expect the Avengers-style blockbuster to make at least that much. However, despite being a gigantic superhero event — Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Aquaman, and the Flash finally teaming up to defeat evil — cinema-goers just weren’t as excited as Warner Bros. predicted. Tracking for a $110 to $120 million opening weekend, Justice League took $96 million at the US box office, making just over $280 million worldwide. Unfortunately, despite still being a huge number, the studio is reportedly on track to lose $50 to $100 million once the movie has played out of cinemas. http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-en...-a8075376.html |

Don't.
A slight bit of good news for DC is that the box was only down 56% from week 1 to week 2, whereas BvS and SS dropped 69% and 67% respectively. But that's still just $172m, which is way off from the 2 week domestic totals of $260m and $222m for those movies. For the record, WW dropped just 43%, and finished those two weeks at $206m. Justice League had the lowest open of all the DCU movies. Of course that will worry the suits. Last edited by Just Passin' By; 11-28-2017 at 11:22 PM.. |

Idk. Maybe you're right. I don't have 1% of the knowledge about Hollywood behind the scenes you do.
But I feel like the studio had to have expected this movie to perform in line with comparable superhero ensembles such as Avengers, Avengers 2 and Civil War. |

The Avengers was projected to be around $160 million but hit $207 million. Those aren't even close to the same expectations. |

Oh boy...I could see why Ben could want out if this is accurate.
@BatmanNewsCom: #JusticeLeague drama revealed: Warner Bros. wanted to fire Zack Snyder after #BatmanvSuperman https://batman-news.com/2017/11/29/j...r-warner-bros/ ‘Justice League’ drama revealed: Warner Bros. wanted to fire Zack Snyder after ‘Batman v Superman’ BY*CHRIS BEGLEY*ON*NOVEMBER 29, 2017|**@BATMANNEWSCOM346 [https://i1] I’ve been waiting for*The Hollywood Reporter,*Variety,*Deadline, or*The Wrapto weigh in on all of the behind-the-scenes drama surrounding*Justice League, and today,*The Wrap*delivered. As you know,*Justice League*went through a lot of changes after the backlash that*Batman v Supermanreceived. Production was scheduled to begin in April 2016, just a few weeks after*Batman v Superman.*The Wrapsays that several Warner Bros. executives went to (then) President Greg Silverman, asking him to remove director Zack Snyder from*Justice League. Silverman was “quite harsh on Zack”, but production was too far along and they were about to start rolling. The decision to keep Snyder on*Justice League*ultimately came from Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara. DC Films President Jon Berg was sent to London to oversee the movie’s production. Earlier this year, Joss Whedon was brought on to*Justice League*to make the movie lighter and more fun. It’s also around the time when Snyder’s daughter died by suicide. Despite the terrible tragedy, Snyder tried to bury his head in his work, but ended up stepping down as director. The added pressure from Warner Bros. to change his movie couldn’t have come at a worst time. “It stopped being a good situation on any level,”*The Wrap’s*source said. And then there were the reshoots, which included many new scenes of Henry Cavill’s Superman. But there was one problem. Cavill had a mustache for*Mission Impossible 6, which he was shooting at the same time, and contractually couldn’t shave it. Warner Bros. would have to digitally remove it, and the November 17th release date was just a few months away. Delaying the movie was probably the best decision, but here’s where it gets ugly… AT&T and Time Warner are currently in the middle of a $85 billion dollar deal that they were hoping would close by the end of the year. One source told*The Wrap*that WB CEO Kevin Tsujihara and President Toby Emmerich “wanted to preserve their bonuses they would be paid before the merger,” and were worried that “if they pushed the movie, then their bonuses would have been pushed to the following year and they might not still be at the studio.” My takeaway here is that*Justice League*is the result of*Batman v Superman*backlash, too many cooks in the kitchen, and corporate greed. Let me know what you think in the comments below, and check out the full story at*The Wrap*for more. SOURCE:*The Wrap |

Alot of talk on Twitter...hear anything about this stuff Dane
@TheWrap: How 'Batman v Superman' Was Kryptonite for 'Justice League' (Exclusive) https://goo.gl/42Bxwh https://twitter.com/TheWrap/status/9...037696/photo/1 @ConnorFilm: I was told by someone I trust that WB will likely tell future directors to completely ignore the Snyder films/continuity and just focus on making good movies going forward. |

DC has decided that the upcoming standalone films won't all be in the same universe. So Nightwing, Shazam, Aquaman and WW2, along with Reeves Batman won't be interconnected. I don't think that's breaking news but that's the plan at this time. I, like everyone else, wish this had been better planned but WB has never really been known to think things through. For as long as I can remember, it's always been a reaction to another studio's action. |

Why don't they just reboot at this point if that's actually the way they feel? How can it be a DCEU if all the movies are just their own thing without intertwining plot threads.
