Guns n Roses to reunite in 2016?
Dane, i thought you said it would never happen??
http://www.franchiseherald.com/artic...union-tour.htm According to Blabbermouth, promoters and organizers are now cooking a possible reunion tour for the American rock band. "Slash and Axl have verbally agreed to get things together again and reform the original band," the insider reportedly said. "The live shows are where they can show the world what they had and also make the greatest earnings." "Promoters are quietly working away to land opportunities. Details of the reunion are expected to leak out in the next few days. Everyone is expecting huge demand for tickets, but the boys are very humble and are not sure what to expect." And while no official announcement has been made yet, Alternative Nation, claimed that Slash may have been reserving a short summer time for a Guns N' Roses reunion tour, while his other band Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators is scheduled to perform shows 2016 and 2017. According to a report from Jose Norberto Flesch of GNR Truth, the band has now ironed out any legal issues constraining the possibility of an original line up tour for Guns N' Roses. "Heads up!" the report said. "The 'possible return of Guns' story is stronger now. I've heard that the legal issues have been solved. Now it's up to the band." And to further strengthen the claims, reports suggested that Guns N' Roses has been offered to play at Coachella for quite some time already. "Guns already has an offer from Coachella for a long time," the report said. "It was only a matter of solving their issues." "European festivals are also anxiously awaiting for a resolution for all Guns related problems." |

That would be perfect if he's still capable of doing it.

Axl is a joke.... I wouldn't walk across the street to watch a free concert.

Oh yeah, good grief. I knew Slash was broke but what I heard on Sunday was really bad.
He really needs the big US tour, financially speaking, so I hope that for his sake, it happens. Also, take it FWIW but the reason why Izzy, Gilby and Adler are out so far is money. Frank and Richard Fortus will take a lot less, which is good for Slash. Apparently, Axl doesn't need money and as anyone that's followed Duff's career the past decade, he doesn't either. |

He wrote a good memoir, if you're interested in more Duff.

In terms of the early Guns records, well, as everyone knows, CD's just don't sell anymore, so that revenue stream is all but dead. And while the perception of GNR is that Slash is "the" guitarist, he never fully wrote any of their songs and was listed as a co-songwriter on less than a handful. So radio play, film synchronization and even streaming revenues would be paltry, especially given that the songs were released 25+ years ago when the Statutory Rate was 5 cents, 25% of which goes to the publisher and with the remainder split among the songwriters. Snakepit and Velvet Revolver didn't really provide much revenue and his solo records with Myles are all self-funded, as he's not signed to a major label. He's not touring or opening for big bands like Metallica or Megadeth (et al), they're playing clubs and casinos. That's a tough way to earn a living, even if your name is Slash. And his record sales barely cover the cost of the recordings. Two divorces don't help either, especially his latest, which meant selling his home, splitting any revenues with his ex, giving up 50% community property, as well as paying child support to his two kids. Last I heard, he was renting a home for $3k a month in the Valley. Guns and Roses was one of the biggest bands in the world but their original lineup barely lasted 7 years, in which they mostly burned through every penny they earned during that period. It's a fairly sad story but not at all uncommon, as most of the "rock stars" from the 80's are all broke and haven't been able to afford living in Los Angeles since their heyday. |

I have his first book, which is pretty interesting. He details his childhood, growing up in the punk scene, early GNR, Velvet Revolver and more. He's a very articulate and smart guy, something that I wouldn't have expected having met him in 1988, when he was a disaster of a drug fueled mess. But once he cleaned up, he couldn't have been any nicer, as we used to run into each other post-2004 at restaurants and such, in which he was always a pleasure.
On a side note, I was fortunate enough to hear his unreleased 1999 Geffen Record about 2 weeks ago and I have to say, it was freaking awesome. I was really blown away. It was definitely a "Seattle" sounding record and nothing like the subsequent records he released with his solo band or the 1996 flop with the Neurotic Outsiders (they got a $1 million dollar signing bonus, which was desperately needed by Duff and especially John Taylor of Duran Duran, who was completely broke and living in a single in Venice Beach). Anyway, the record was awesome and it's a shame it'll never see the light of day. |
