Yep. He doesn't have the arm strength he once had. In fact, this can directly be traced to a shoulder injury he suffered in the 2012 season. Schaub, being a class act, has never used it as an excuse, but he didn't have to because anyone who has watched him since then can tell his arm is not the same. In fact, the Texans ditched a good portion of their offense to compensate for it. A telling stat is that when Keenan became the QB, Andre Johnson's numbers jumped dramatically - especially involving the deep ball. Keenum would throw down field instead of under the coverage, like Schaub. It was very clear that Schaub didn't have the the arm strength for the deep ball nor the "zip" for the intermediate throws made in traffic.

I don't see him being as bad as he played last year. And I'd definitely take him over Vick...

You think Matt Cassel shits himself when blitzed? Wait till you see this Matt in action...I wouldn't want he or Vick as the QB of my team.

What I see on that list is teams "trying" to develop a QB. Most SB winners drafted their own QB! |

Matt Schaub took deep pay cut with Oakland Raiders
According to contract details obtained by USA TODAY Sports, Schaub can make $8 million in 2014 — $3 million less than he was due under his old deal with the Houston Texans – in the form of a $3.5 million roster bonus due next month and a $4.5 million fully guaranteed base salary. In 2015, Schaub is due a $5.5 million base salary – down from $13.5 million in salary and bonuses under his old deal. The last year of his old deal in 2016 was deleted. Schaub, 32, can make back $6 million ($3 million each year) through a variety of playtime and performance-based incentives, including making the Pro Bowl. His cap numbers are just $8 million in 2014 and $5.5 million in 2015. |
