What is your LEAST favorite fast food restaurant?

Simply Red's classic Hardees thread got me to thinking - where is everybody's least favorite fast food joint? Poll will be coming soon!

VARSITY
Wikipedia has a list of the 100 largest fast food chains. I looked at them and applied the following logic: if I was on a road trip with someone and they suggested that restaurant, how happy or unhappy would I be? Here are my judgments.

I would be happy if they suggested it.

Pizza Hut
Chick-fil-A
Wendy's
Panda Express
Sbarro
A&W

I would be generally approving if they suggested it.

McDonald's
KFC
Long John Silver's
Jack in the Box
Papa John's Pizza
Church's Chicken
Arby's
Qdoba Mexican Eats
Captain D's
Five Guys
Jamba Juice
Hardee's

I would be indifferent. I wouldn't be thrilled, but I wouldn't try to talk them out of it.

Domino's Pizza
Quiznos
Dairy Queen
Sonic Drive-In
Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen
Chipotle Mexican Grill

I would gently try to talk them out of it.

Einstein Bros. Bagels
Burger King
Taco Bell
Whataburger
Del Taco
Jimmy John's
Moe's Southwest Grill

I would avidly look for some other option, any other option, to suggest.

Carl's Jr.
Wingstop
WingStreet
Panera Bread
Auntie Anne's
Subway
Little Caesars

I'm not familiar enough with these places to judge them:

Hunt Brothers Pizza
Tim Hortons
CNHLS
Sibylla
Costa Coffee
Jollibee
Ting Hsin International Group
Dicos
Pelicana Chicken
Shanghai Shihao
Sukiya
Pala Hamburger
Chester's International
MOS Burger
Papa Murphy's
LEM hamburger
Ichibanya
Firehouse Subs
Kebab Turki Baba Rafi
Telepizza
Bob's
Jersey Mike's Subs
Nando's
Chooks-to-Go
Kennedy Fried Chicken
BreadTalk
85C Bakery Cafe
Zaxby's
Blimpie
Checkers and Rally's
Southern Fried Chicken
Bojangles' Famous Chicken 'n Biscuits
Pizza Pizza
CiCi's Pizza
Country Style
Habib's
Rita's Italian Ice
Smoothie King
Da Niang Dumpling
Brioche Dorée
Charley's Grilled Subs
Round Table Pizza
Pita Pit
Kungfu
Culver's
Steers

I don't view these places as fast-food joints.

Starbucks
Dunkin' Donuts
Baskin-Robbins
Orange Julius
Denny's
IHOP
Café Coffee Day
Buffalo Wild Wings
Krispy Kreme
Häagen-Dazs
Cinnabon
Applebee's
Shakey's
Chuck E. Cheese's
Steak 'n Shake
Chili's

Dad used to have a rule that if we couldn't decide where we wanted to eat, then we were going to McDonald's.

As a child, it never occurred to me that it was a subtle way to manipulate Mom into making up her mind, using the kids as cover.

Still, it worked on us. Even as '90s kids, there were ALWAYS better options than McDonald's.

According to their nutritional menu if it's a bowl then it's 43 grams of protein and about 70% of your daily sodium.

That's another one with a weird cult following. At least when people say they like eating at a place like White Castle, it's followed with "after a night of heavy drinking," but some people love that powered cheese shit even when they're sober and thinking straight.

600 something cals? LOLWUT?

The typical order at Chipotle has about 1,070 calories. That’s more than half of the calories that most adults are supposed to eat in an entire day. The recommended range for most adults is between 1,600 and 2,400.

[...]

The distributions of two other metrics of a meal’s health — salt and saturated fat, shown in the charts below — are just as revealing. Most orders at Chipotle give you close to a full day’s worth of salt (2,400 milligrams) and 75 percent of a full day’s worth of saturated fat.

The only way you get close to 1000 calories with single helpings of rice, chicken, cheese, lettuce, and tomato, is if it's a burrito and not a bowl or salad (or the person behind the counter gives you a ton of rice and cheese).

When I ate there more often, I switched from one of those 1000+ calorie burritos to barbacoa/cheese/sour cream/guac. 620 calories, 34g protein, and 6 carbs (minus fiber).

They do show it in that pretty graph and actually state it in the article...

Chipotle customers can and do order meals with fewer than 650 calories, such as a cheese-free burrito bowl.

Like many restaurants, it was great in the 70's and 80's. But after Don Bell sold to Pepsi, it really fell off a cliff. They tried to get people back by offering .49 cent tacos for the longest time, but the quality never returned.
It was the K Minus/Quick Prep decision that killed Taco Bell quality. They went from cooking actual food to bringing in precooked food from outside vendors.

I've eaten a lot of fast food in the past. All things being equal, if you take each menu and have the food prepared as it is intended, McD's is the worst. Their strategy is not to offer the best food. Their strategy is to attempt offer the exact same food at every single location. Your shitty McD's burger is supposed to be exactly the same no matter where you buy it. The idea is to get you used to how their food tastes and get you expecting that same taste even if it's not very good. It works. Because people who habitually consume fast food don't notice that it's a shitty burger. They are more concerned with price and convenience.
