Can we settle this once and for all?

Alex Smith isn't going to carry the team to the Super bowl and the Chief's management are fools for thinking so.

Nobody here wants him to fail they are just realistic because they have seen this movie too many times before. It ends the same way each time. Four or five years will have been pissed away on a failing idea by the time the Chiefs figure it out again.

I doubt there is a single person in the Chiefs office that actually believes Alex Smith will get the team to the SB, let alone win it. They are pretty smart football people.

However, I think they are all in total agreement that Alex Smith gives the fans enough hope, to get Arrowhead sold out and rocking again.

He gives the team a legit chance of getting to 10 and 6 and returning to the playoffs for another first round spanking. Anything more than that is an overshoot and a bonus.

I don't think so.

I think that this is a pretty solid football team that can compete with just about anybody on any given Sunday BECAUSE of Alex Smith. He gives this team exactly what it needed at the quarterback position - 1. Mentally: a solid football mind, experience at the position, an understanding of the league, solid leadership. 2. Physically: the capability of not putting the ball into the defenses hands, accuracy, good athleticism.

This team has some serious playmakers - Charles, Bowe, Houston, Hali, Johnson, et al. What it needed was to have a QB that would allow/provide these playmakers the opportunity to take advantage of their specific skills on a greater basis than what was allowed the previous several seasons.

We all know that Charles is capable of insanity sauce yardage numbers. Bowe could literally make good on his proclamation of leading the league in receptions and TD's. Both needed a QB who would allow them the opportunity to do so, and I believe that Alex Smith is that guy, especially in an Andy Reid type of offensive system.

@evansilva: Fascinated to see #Chiefs Alex Smith experiment in Andy Reid's pass-first O. Smith = very limited (& limit-ing) passer. Not sure it'll work.

@evansilva: #Chiefs can surround Alex Smith with arguably even better "weapons" than 49ers did. But completely different offensive mindset. Intriguing.
